Can anyone give me any insight on what i should do?...Brand new gun brand new mags please help
thanks
Welcome, Reserve.
Well, it's a 1911, so it is not meant to function right from the box.
Many of the antique shooters I know will install a heavier slide spring to compensate for this during the break-in period.
If proper lubrication doesn't help, the problem could be the ammo you were using, an overly-tight slide-to-frame fit, an ill-fitting extractor, a burr on the breechface or even a rough chamber.
Lots of possible problems, most of which a few thousand rounds will smooth out for you.
I'd try different ammo and some better grease (like Tetra) on the slide rails first, though.
I hear Kimber has a pretty fair warranty, so if it doesn't like being a gun send it back to them and they'll tuine it up for you.
fastvfr's suggestions, except for heavier recoil spring, are sound if the malfunction occured any other time but if it's the last round failing to feed, that sounds like a magazine problem.
If it's always on the last round, try different magazines. Try McCormick's power mags, not the shooting star, or Wilson 7-round mags.
thank you both for your suggestions. i will try different mags first and if that does not help next step will be having the barrel throated.
thanks a million
put 500 rounds threw here and repost next weekend!;0 ;0 ;0

+1 on the break-in. You can't judge any pistol, 1911 or Glock, by the first 50 rounds.

I second the breakin advice. heavily oil and about 200 more rounds and it should smooth out and begin to run better. Its all metal and tight tolerances demand break in.
+1 - most 1911s require 300+ rds for breakin before they can be depended on to function reliably
it does sound like a mag spring problem or the follower fit in the mag tube as the tube may narrow near the top

Antique shooters? Not meant to function? Give a Glock the wrong mags and it will have the same problems. Try some Wilson mags and FP10. Both of my Kimbers are just as reliable as my Glock.
thank you all for your insight :) I went out and got wilson mags and have not had a problem with the gun yet. I love my kimber now and dont think i would trade it for the world.
p.s. It is the most accurate gun I have ever shot thank you all for the good info

Been covered but most of the time it will be bad mag springs. I have had to change several when new to get them to function 100%. Good choice of weapon and good luck.
