I really like this gun. It is a great pocket gun. It does remarkably well at the range. The tip up barrel is great. My major complaint is that after the last round the slide does not stay back. Unless you are counting the shots then you will dry fire the gun. Is this harmful to it? Also I added some paint to the front sight to make it better when shooting black centered targets at the range. What is your opinion of this gun? I have the stainless version and have to use pretty good ammo to have it function properly all the time.

Thanks

I also just bought a beretta bobcat in 22LR and the pistol does shoot really good considering it has a 2.4 inch barrel. It does state in the manual that dry firing can cause firing pin breakage. You can pratice trigger pull by inserting a spent case in the chamber to cushion the firing pin. As for the the slide not staying open on the last round I guess were going to have to keep track of the rounds we fire. It is a nice little pocket gun for the money.

I have the blued version. It produces the tightest groups of any of my pistols

I've got a couple of 21s chambererd for .22LR that I bought back in the '80s. Over the course of about two or three years, I put 5000 plus rounds of high or hyper velocity through the first one until the rolled pins started working loose. I need to consider sending it back to Beretta to get tightened up one of these days (I've been saying that for a while). I bought my second one in '87 or '88. I didn't shoot this one as much but carried it a lot for a long time. I broke it out again last year to give my son some shooting lessons when he was six. He liked the weight of the 21 better than a S&W .22 revolver. The tip up barrel is great for loading one round at a time for kids.

When the 21 was introduced, it was about the best ultra compact carry gun I had encountered for the price and practicality. You could shoot a lot of .22s for the price of a box of .25, and the pocket .32s weren't available until later. I had a Walther .380, but found it was about as heavy as a Glock 19, not that much smaller, and that I could not hit the broad side of a barn with it beyond seven yards. I used to be able to hit pepper poppers at 100 yards with the Beretta 21. Perhaps I still could if I tried. Its still a neat little gun.
