I purchased a brand new Walther P-99 AS in 9mmx19 yesterday and finally took it to the range. After 500 rds of Remington UMC it only made me kick myself in the pants for selling my first 9mm P-99 in 2003. Anyone looking for an awesome 9mm handgun you cannot go wrong with a P-99.

I picked up my P99 a month or so ago and am loving everything about it. I have about 700 rounds of flawless operation. Congrats on your 're-purchase' ;)
Yep, picked it up at the Sportsman's Warehouse in Round Rock just off of Louis Henna BLVD. Fantastic prices there and top notch selection!

Just curious, how much did you pay for it? The AS trigger is getting rare, I was lucky to find one for $560 last June.
I paid 6 bills here in WA. State and that was at a discount store. Prices are high here overall.

Ive been reading that they are going to stop importing the AS version, and try to push the QA. I've wanted one for a while, and finally picked it up a few weeks ago, partially due to what I had been reading. I got a killer deal from CDNN, cheaper after tax (still in TX) shipping and transfer fee than anything I found local. I did not try sportsmans warehouse though, never head of them. I'll have to check them out soon....

Walther P99's are great. I have a P99c that I love.
For what its worth, the shop I purchased my AS from said that was the last one he could get. No more being importated......shrug.
Thats a shame that they want to stop importing he AS model. I tried the DAO version of the P-99 and absolutely hated the thing and wouldnt like the QA either. Glad I got mine when I did!
AS,99C QA ? Which one is SA and which is DAO or DA/SA??????????;b

The AS is the traditional double action first shot/ single action after that.
The QA stands for Quick Action. It's similar to the Glock trigger.
The DAO is Double Action Only. Long heavy pulls each and every time. (Great for Law Enforcement)
99C is the compact version of the P99.

Yes, the A/S is hard to foind. I managed to get a compact Walther A/S 9mm, but could not get a full size one (only in .40cal or a QA version). I ended up buying a S&W version this weekend. But, it was only $439, and for me, it was worth saving $100 or more.
Also, I compared the grip of the .40 A/S to the S&W 99, and I actually thought the S&W was more comfortable. Granted, the Walther does look a bit cooler, but I am satisfied.
I'm surpremely (if that word exists) lucky...only a month ago, I purchased a NIB Walther P99AS Military 9mm with Trijicon night sights (installed) two mags (one 16 and one 15 round magazines), all the accessories and two extra 15 round magazines for the sum of $500 delivered from an FFL dealer on The Firing Line forums. It was to have been his wife's gun but she didn't want it (if I remember the story).
It's a great gun!

Does that include the FFL fees and shipping?
I paid $515 for mine a few weeks ago
Definetly area specific I think.......I paid 600 and the dealer said he only makes a 10% mark-up....shrug.

Well, I wanted a full size P99 9mm to match my compact, but I couldn't track one down in person, even at the Houston gun show at the reliant center (they only had a .40cal or a 9mm QA model). I ended up getting the SW99 for $439, and I am satisfied. Even though I kinda wanted the Walther more, I don't think it's worth +$100 more. So, I am satisfied.

What do so many dislike the QA trigger? To me its the way to go, no safety to snap, no decocking, one light and short trigger pull.

I agree. I have the compact, but its awesome.
