I have G19 but want to get a smaller 9mm for ankle carry. Since I love my G19 I figured why mess with a good thing, just get the G26. I know this a Glock site but are there any better baby 9mm's out there? I plan to get it at a show this weekend.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.
I like the Walther P99c better than the G26 myself. They're the same size and weight. The P99c comes with adjustable sights, a light rail, and an adjustable backstrap for basically the same price. My P99c has been just as accurate and reliable as my G26 was. It fits my hand better and I like the SA/DA so I can carry with round chambered and decocked. I also prefer the Walther's trigger.
All that said, the G26 is still an awesome subcompact 9mm. I just prefer the Walther.
Since you already have a G19, the G26 is a wise choice. You can use G19 mags for backup.

Love my G26. Carry it hourly. Use it in USPSA Production division. Usually do very well.
This is my second 26 in the past 9 years. Have learned to keep shots on a paper plate at 50yds, off the bench.
Another great carry choice might be the Kahr PM9-

I purchased one of these for my brother. 100% reliable. Very lightweight and compact. Also a 9mm. Makes the G26 look/feel large.
Good Luck

I just picked up a used G26. I've thought about it for years but I just could'nt get a "warm fuzzy" feeling for the Baby Glock. I have carried a G19 for several years and I also have a G17 for range and competition shooting. Despite having owned many other fine handguns (Karr, CZ 75, BHP, SA 1911) I think the glock nines are the most rugged, dependable, and all around good carry guns available for the money. Anyway I walked into my favorite local gun store last week and found a used 26 with two mags and tuperware for $360. so I "had to have it". I've wanted to carry something smaller during the warm weather (easier to conceal)and another Glock just makes sense. It fits the same Don Hume belt slide holster that I use for my 19 and 17. I can use the same spare mag pouch or for that matter the same spare mag as my 19 or 17. Being a Glock, if there are any problems with it the repair should be fairly easy and inexspensive.:)
I also love my P2000SK, although its not in the same price range of the G26 or P99c.

Glock 19 on duty and Glock 26 off-duty, it just makes sense. The 26 shoots like a service gun. Best $500 bucks I ever spent.

I like the G26 best of all the 9mm Glocks. That's why I bought one.
Of course, I only bought one to use as an off-duty weapon, though, so the smaller size was a benefit from that perspective. That's also just my preference and thoughts. I've had to carry a 6906 most every day at work for my plainclothes assignment (occasionally replaced by a SW99), so a similarly sized G19 didn't appeal to me in the least. I like something a bit smaller to carry on my own time. Naturally, however, I want to carry something as accurate & as reliable as my issued weapon. The "ideal compromise", right? The G26, SW99c, CS9, and even my 3913, fill that role to my satisfaction.
Comparing my G26 & SW99c side-by-side, they're virtually the same overall size, albeit the slide is about 1/4" longer on the SW99c.
I find my CS9 feels smaller, overall, than either the G26 or the SW99c. Even with the chunky Hogue grips. Funny.
Most folks offer the opinion that TDA (DA/SA) triggers require more familiarization, training & practice than DAO & DAO-type (Glock) triggers. Having two different trigger strokes and pulls can be more confusing to some folks than having one stroke and weight. That certainly makes sense having always been a 1911 enthusiast. However, I've always trained for both TDA and SA (1911) weapons, so adjusting to the slightly different Glock only required a little adjustment period. I dislike the QA triggers of the 99 series. Again, funny.
I also dislike the long reset of the Kahr triggers, although the metal-framed Kahr .40's are more appealing to me than the polymer models, or anything offered by Kahr in 9mm. Just personal reaction after handling and shooting different models. Some folks like them, though.
Since you're already familiar with the G19, it would seem the G26 would likely be your optimal choice from a familiarity perspective. The overall grip design and ergonomics might not appeal to you, however. Have you done much shooting with a G26? How familiar and comfortable are you with the TDA design of the 99 series? Would having a differently designed pistol, using a different trigger operation, be a problem for you? Only you can answer these questions.
I do a lot of shooting with TDA, Safe-Action and SA (1911) pistols, so I'm comfortable carrying different pistols which incorporate all 3 designs. I know other folks who strongly prefer to carry a single design, for reasons of both personal preference and simplicity of training. That's certainly the 'right' choice for them.
What do you think is the 'right' choice for you?
