Does beretta make a smaller version of the 92/96 series?

Not currently, but in the past they did.
They made the Centurion which was the same grip length but a shorter slide/barrel.
The Compact L had a shorter grip (13 round mags) and the same length slide/barrel as the Centurion.
The Compact L Type M is a single stack 8-shot 9mm with a short upper (centurion length?) and slimmer grip frame (although the grip panels were a bit thicker and the overall grip width is only slightly less than the full size double stack guns.
These were all made in 9mm. I'm unsure of any 96 (.40) versions of these guns. None are in current production AFAIK.
Hope that helps.

Beretta made the 96 Compact as well. They have 10 round mags, but can take the full-size 96-series 11 round magazines.
I think the 96 Compact came in the "FS" (DA/SA with a safety and decocker) and "D" ("slickslide" DAO) only....but I vaguely remember seeing years ago a "G" version (DA/SA with a decocker only)....though that might have been a 92G Compact that I saw; I don't remember.
CDNN Investments still has 96D Compacts for sale.
