Mine is not exactly a "muscle car". But it's and Infinity G35 with a GReddy Twin Turbo. 495rwh. It's a sleeper. It looks stock except for the "cooler" in the grill. It can eat some lunches.

I LOVE the look of the G35 sport coupes. They look way better than the 350z (which isn't at all ugly IMO, just the G35 is much nicer).

They need to bring back the turbo Z's with the 350 and the G35.

Hell while were at it, Toyota needs to bring back the last gen supra TT, or at least the engine in some other car. Those things are built like tanks.

IS300-TT? can't be too hard based on the aftermarket jobs...

I'd personally love a IS300 wagon with 3 pedals and 2 turbos...;P

The Mustang: 2002 GT 5spd, 18" FR500 style with anthracite spokes, ceramic coated longtube headers, offroad (no cats) h-pipe, flowmaster catback, centerforce clutch/flywheel, 3.73 gears. Car makes about 380 rear wheel horsepower on the nitrous.

http://www.mustangmods.com/data/13643/gtnoplate.jpg

The Camaro: 2000 Z28 6spd. BIG cam, FAST 90mm throttlebody/intake manifold, Kooks Stainless 1 7/8" headers, offroad Y pipe, borla catback, asp underdrive pulleys, MTI lid. Car makes 430 rear wheel horsepower(about 500 flywheel hp) and 382 rear wheel torque naturally aspirated (this is only cam and bolt-ons, stock 70k mile heads and bottom end). Once i replace the rear end with a 9 inch, ill throw some nitrous on it and shoot for 600hp + at the wheels.

It's a n/a 2.3 right now, runs 20's....I'm shooting for solid 14's with the above combo and 16-17 psi. Hopefully 13's with a bit of nitrous and/or a hybrid, but those won't come for a while. Drop a second from those times to get sea-level times.

Muscle Cars? You gotta be kidding me. I'll be the first to post a real muscle car. My dad had one almost exactly like this one a few years ago. The only difference I can spot is my dad's didn't have a hood mounted tach.

I don't have any digital pictures of it so this will have to do.

Edited to add: Emarsh, Is that a Fiero? How the heck did you get that giant engine into such a little car and how did you solve the 90 degree engine transaxle thing? I have one request: Smoke a ricer for me.

emarsh
07-06-2005, 06:40
Yep, its a Fiero. I was shooting for somewhere around 450hp and 450 foot pounds of torque when I put the motor together. I used a kit to install it which hooks it up to the stock transaxle. The transaxle has proven to be a weak point, even though I had it beefed.

Here is a picture of the engine in place.

Well you know the basic rule of drag racing. If big is good, bigger is better and too big is just about right. ;)

I've always kind of liked my toys to be a bit over the top. But the Fiero was actually intended to be a good street car rather than something too radical to drive. It makes power from about 3200 to 5800 with huge midrange. That's what I tuned the headers to. Incidently they are a 180 degree design.

Now if I had the free time and money what I'd like to do is build a street version of one of the '60s era Fuel Altereds. Something with a blown 392 and zoomies. With 2000 horsepower, a load of nitro and wheelbases shorter than a ford Pinto the F/A could be "interesting" to drive. I've just always thought they were just about the ultimate in cool - or is that just the ultimate in crazyness?

As for you WRX vs Late-model Mustang GT guys:

The GT has the edge on the top end, the WRX at the line. The WRX should do a little better turning and braking too, mainly because it's lighter.

But you guy's who own them should know this stuff already.

And of course, both can be modded as far as your $$$ allows.

"To put this in perspective, consider Lance a new Subaru WRX STI and Ullrich an Audi A8. The Audi has more horsepower (335), but that horsepower has to pull a bigger mass (4,300 pounds). The Subaru has a little less horsepower (300), but since it has to move less weight (3,300 pounds), it's much more nimble and can accelerate like a bullet."

Absolutely. When I was shopping for cars a few years back, the WRX was just being introduced to the states, I wanted a Sedona red wagon. Couldn't bring myself to spend new car money, settled very happily for a cousin of the Lightning, the SVT Contour... I'm way slower than either of you in acceleration, but it has plenty of top speed and is a mean little handler. I really like the new Legacy GT's, sleepy on the outside, upscale on the inside, and potential monsters under the hood.;c

Former cop car, I'm guessing? That's badass, I love that body style Crown Vic (except when I roll up on them or vice versa in traffic, then they scare the crap outta me). I'd love to get one in white, black or that mineral gray color and tint the windows, toss some clean 5-spokes on (Saleen or Roush come to mind), nice-sounding exhaust, shift kit, gears, and maybe some nitrous. Damn you for making me want yet another car project, lol.

Beautiful GTO. I'm not a GM guy, but I looked hard at those.

Definitely not muscle, but here is my (wife's) GT. 40th ann. package, not just the badge. Color, hood stripes, wheels, spoiler delete and interior. She loves it.

Thanks. It looks good from a distance. It has been repainted at some point, and it is starting to peel in a few spots. The tops of the front fenders are starting to fade also. The front clip needs repainted.

The interior is in great shape. And mechanically it is sound. I paid less than 3k for it, so I could fix it up a little and make a buck or two. Just bought it for a daily driver play car, not to collect. Use it a lot more than the ATV I sold to get it.

I don't know, 500 horse in a car the size of a G35 IS a muscle car in my book. Beats the heck out of some of the old pony cars. My current toy isn't sporting quite as much muscle. I just picked up a 350Z with about 310 horse. Lots of fun! Enjoy the ride...

holy crap, that's a nice IROC, they look so frikkin' mean with that gatorback hood. Mine is an 87 GTA with the L-98 350 in it, it's one of the few flame red GTA's that came with the red interior.

A part of me wishes I'd have gone with the 5 speed and the LB-9 305, I just love a good stick shift.

The subject of the pictures is a 1995 Mustang GT I bought about a month ago. I wound up selling my ZRX1200R streetbike. I was getting way too brave on it, and had a couple near misses that would've been life changing to say the least. I can say that I put 5,000mi on one of the fastest accelerating streetbikes, and it cost less than ~$500 bucks for all them smiles (and no road rash). I figured I should quit while my head was still attached.

The 'stang isn't really fast by today's standards, but the 5.0 V8 with headers and Flowmasters sounds better than a fast Maxima or Camry. Cool features are that it's the last year of the 5.0, and that it's a rare (though not valuable) GTS model... which means it's one of the few GT's that has LX trim. ::) I like manual windows better anyway... less Ford electronics to break.

I had a black one just like it a couple years ago I sold cheap. At the time I also had a 98gt which had the nicer 17" wheels and the mach460 sound. I always regretted selling my 95 GT.
