The top strap over the cylinder near the rear sight of my single action .22 mag revolver broke today. Can this be fixed by a gunsmith? The gun is fairly old and on the barrel it says its a .22lr but it had a german mag cylinder in it. I bought the gun(used) at a gun store about 1995 and probably run 200 or so rounds through it over that time. Hell I thought since I got it at a gun store it woulda been ok but obviously not. As far as I can tell, nothing would have made this do this except overstress in the framing from the mag rounds. My wife just got done shooting 6 rounds through it and i was just about to put six more, but on the first shot it broke and covered the rear sight picture. Thats how i found it. It had broke clean through and has some hairline cracks at the frame lower front of the cylinder. Ill provide a picture if need be.
Thanks, Snipe;d

Sniper,
You fail to say who made the revolver or were it was made. This would determine if it was worth repairing or not. As you said it had a German cyl. in it, this would lead me to believe that the gun is imported. If so, my advice would be weld the barrel shut, call it a paperweight,& chalk it up to good luck that you wern't hurt.
Most of the imported .22 revolvers I' ve seen weren't really high quality even when new
Do yourself a favor & replace it with a Ruger Super Single Six, and your great grandkids will be trying to wear it out!!

The revolver is made by Hawes fire arms co. Los Angeles, California. The cylinder is German. And its the top strap over the cylinder near the rear sight that is broke. And the paper weight idea has already been considered but since this was my first gun (in my name) ive ever owned. I kinda wanna keep it in working order if possible.

This sounds like a Hawes Western Marshall. They were made in Germany (Hawes was the importer), by Erma I think, back in the '60s, and usually came with two cylinders - one for .22 RF and another for .22 WMR.
I hate to say it, but I think you've got a paperweight as was suggested above. These were cheap pistols when brand new, probably a cut below an Iver Johnson. I don't think it would be worth the trouble to restore it.

2 CYLINDERS HUH? Then why was the barrel only marked for .22lr? And yeah it is a deputy marshal stamped on the bottom of the handle strap. Thanks ,Snipe
