The sights on My Bulgie Mak are Novak Colt 380 night sights installed by Marianne Carniak of the Accurizer Gunshop in Troy, MI. Hard chrome was done by Virgil Tripp and the grips were made by Hakan Pek of Norway. I wanted a one of a kind pistol and I am happy with the results. Regards, Richard :D

Hello. Here is a Bulgarian with the old Makarov.com "Beast" conversion, which is a new Bulgarian slide with Novak sights:

SAC, welcome. I am new to this area too. Your Mak is what started me on my upgrades to my Bulgie Mak. Fegarmy made me a very nice set of grips for my Maks. I will post a picture ASAP. Regards, Richard ;f
Here are my two Bulgarian Makarovs; both grips made for me by Hakan Pek of Norway:

Catbird, what wood did Hakan use on your grips? They are great looking. Regards, Richard ;f

Wow! I bet the grips cost more than the guns are worth.

Hakan does great work. The first grip pictured was made from Black Ash Burl, the second grip was made from a grey laminated wood.

Hakan's grips run about $70 including shipping. If you like your Maks as much as I do then Hakan Grips are well worth the price. I do not mind Pierce grips but I do not want them on a carry weapon. They are too bulky and the synthetic material is too tacky for CCW. Regards, Richard :)

Top Gun Supply, is it possible to see a picture of the back strap on your grips for the Russian Mak? Regards, Richard :)

I don't have access to a camera or my Mak right now. I install wood panels on red star grips. That particular set is made with a set of Bakail black grips. What are you trying to see on the back strap?

Top Gun Supply, I wanted to see what you were using to hold the panels on. You are using the same method as Hakan does. Thanks and regards, Richard :)
Does anyone make a textured wood grip for the Mak?
WOW!! Nice grips all the way around. Waht I am most interested in though is who can do custom work on the gun itself. I am looking for a smith to tune up the action/FCG, polish rails, install an extended threaded barrell, modify the safety to be able to be in the on position and still move the slide, and of course new sights. That isn't asking too much is it?

The last one I bought. A Russian .380.
The finish isn't as shiney as it looks, more like a mat stainless.
Typical Mak, no trouble, pretty accurate.

I refinished the slide and frame in matte stainless aerosol Gun-Kote from Brownells, and the extractor, hammer, and safety in matte black.
I machined a 1911 sight dovetail in place of the front sight, and cut down a blank to fit. I plan to replace the front sight with an Ashley Big Dot or something else. I also opened up the rear sight notch a good bit.
The grips are Pearce, it also has a 19# Wolff spring. Works great, never a jam.

Fingolfin, thanks a million for the reply. You may want to look at: Mak Sights (http://glocktalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=402913) I posted pictures of Novak and A/O sights on my Maks there. Regards, Richard;f
Before I switched grips and filed the rear sight down.

I like the idea of having an AO bigdot for the front. I'll check it out.
Here's a couple more pics of mine, with new grips.

What kind of rounds are those? Did you paint them black? ;P
Those are the evil Communist cartridges of Mother Russia, muhahahaha!
Actually, it's just the way the photo turned out. That's Fiocchi 9x18 95 grain FMJ.

About 6 years ago these showed up at the gun shows for a couple months. They were new and disappeared fast.
I haven't seen them since.

Are those East German grips on that one M2? I know the square trigger guard is unusal but I don;t personally care for them (meaning squared trigger guards in general). What are the markings on the slide, I can't manage to make them out.
BTW, thanks again very much for the holster.
TED
Looks like either the Miltex Special Edition or the Arsenal commercial manufactured with leftover Miltex parts, matte finish, minus the grip. I have the latter coming my way in .380.

grimjaw is right, it's Arsenal and below that is the inporter, "D.I.G. VA. Bch. VA".
The grips are East German. It had the funky thumb rest grips. I like thin grips. I don't even like Pearce grips because they are too fat.
I'm not a fan of the square trigger guards either.
I bought this Mak because it was different from any I had seen and I thought it looked good. At the time Maks were getting pretty scarce and while all the dealers wanted $169, one dealer had $139 on this one.
I asked him if he had two.;f
You're welcome, I hope you enjoy the holster.:)

:(
While it pains me to see how much I had to pay to get this one (http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=34781849), I'm still glad I have it. It was either buy a used Bulgie and rebarrel it to .380 (~$80 for the barrel and press) or get one already set up. When I have time and funds available, I'm sending off the Bulgie above to be TuffGun finished by Mac's Shootin' Irons, muzzle brake and all.
M2 Carbine, was yours chambered for .380 or 9x18? From the pic it looks like the latter, but hard to tell.
For the record, I hate the Pearce grips. If anyone wants my set, they can have them for $5 + shipping.

That one was 9x18.
At the time I wasn't interested in 380.
After getting a Kel Tec 380 I got a Colt 380 Government Model and started reloading .380.
A few months ago I came across a new Russian mat chrome/stainless finish 380 that I had to have. (a few pictures up)
Last week I stopped in a pawn shop and they had a real nice one for $179 OTD. Looks like the Russians couldn't make up their minds to make it mat or shiny.

So for someone that doesn't especially like 380, I seem to keep bringing them home.;f
The .380 Makarov does shoot nice though
I swear this is the last Mak I'm buying.

Top, Bulgarian Arsenal Commercial, 380ACP, '99
Middle, Bulgarian Military/Police, 9x18 Makarov, '80
Bottom, Bulgarian Military/Police, 9x18 Makarov, '85
Recoil on the .380 is less than the 9x18's, of course. It's very accurate. The DA trigger is worse than the other Bulgie's, but the SA trigger is about the same. The target grip is ugly, but it does seem to point better with it. Red Star grips for all of them eventually.

That's my first eight, standing.
