How can I design a webpage so that the customer (with no HTML/coding knowledge) can later upload photos to the website themselves? Thanks.

You can use Gallery

To simply upload the images to the server you can setup an FTP program with the correct parameters so that all the user has to do it simply login with the correct credentials and then upload them. The HTML page could have a link to the folder and viewers could simply click on a link to view the image. However, this does not display the images on a page nor any thumbnails.

Check out this example (http://webpages.charter.net/netpresence/images/) to see what I mean.

I'm looking more for something like a thumbnail gallery (I should've mentioned this).

ooooohhhh, i do this all the time. you need an interface in php or asp or something similar. select a directory to upload to. then setup a login screen and the user can login and up load pictures to that directory.

Another Vote for Gallery. It is what I use. It has a hidden side to it for user specific functions. Take a look at mine running Linux. I have also got it to run under Win2k Server several times.

Version 2 is now in Beta 3 release.

I'm guessing Gallery isn't something that could be used if the webpage were hosted with Bellsouth.

You will want a PHP/MySQL/FTP solution.

Some help might be available here: http://www.php.net/

You will also be able to find many pre-built solutions at various places on the web.

Anyone have any more info?

As far as Gallery goes, the example above isn't working... is it something you can use if the site is hosted with somewhere like Bellsouth?

What about having the user (w/ no HTML, etc. knowledge) be able to just make changes to the website layout in general? According to someone I know, they used to have a website that allowed that. For instance, if he wanted to put up a new special that his company had going at that time, he simply logged on and put it up. Unfortunately he doesn't remember how it was done.
