standard 92?
What are the differences?

The Vertec has the straight backstrap area of the grip like a 1911, so it fits smaller mitts well. For me, it is the best fitting double stack pistol out of the usual suspects- Glocks,Sigs, 92FS,ect.
The frame also has the rails for a tac light. I put a DAO "D" mainspring in in about 5 mins and greatly reduced the trigger pull with no loss in performance. I can't miss with this pistol. I have the same results with the single stack Sigs- P220,P225. Hand fit is becomming more important to me.

I prefer the Vertec grip and shoot it much better. Alas my agency issues the Beretta with the regular grip and I sold off my Vertec.

I seem to shoot the Vertec better than the original, partly because the grip angle is more like my 1911s. Don't use the gadget rail for anything, but may get around to expermenting along those lines someday.
Meanwhile I have a Vertec in .40, and a Border Marshal in 9mm. The top ends can be swapped between the two guns, for whatever that's worth. Have so far been somewhat stymied in finding concealment holsters for these guns, but that's my only gripe.

I think it's a personal thing -- you have to try both to see which one fits you the best. I like the traditional grip myself.

I use a Don Hume H717: Agent 9
for a P228. It fits because it is designed to fit all barrel length Sigs.

I ended up using a soft Uncle Mike's IWB holster because I couldn't find a holster for my Vertec. The corners of the rails would rub holes in it, though.
I've also got smaller hands so the straight back-strap fits my hand good.
Hey Mr. Dover:
I just received a Comp-Tac kydex IWB for my Vertec. It is pretty nice and highly concealable.

I love my Vertec -- much easier to shoot well than my old 92fs. My concealment holster is a Blade-Tech.
