Is there some kind of ban against them or just a general ban against Russian guns?
I don't keep up with those kind of things.
I'm fairly certain they are not allowed to be imported.

The biggest difference, I'll bet, is the sights. But I like the solid heft and feel of the Makarov. It would be interesting to shoot them and compare.

It took me some time searching through the archives to find this thread but I sooooooooooooo much want to know if these have been imported yet. Anyone have one or know who sells them? I think it would be a nice complement to my Bulgies.
man i want one for the name alone."skyph"
Damn it axel why did you have to bring this thread up again? Now I want one even more.:( ;)
I just may revive it every six months until I find one.;f

If they ever do get imported, I'm wondering how much they'll be going for. i'd shuck out a bit for one.
www.raacfirearms.com You might ask them if they can get them...

Thanks. I've asked and will post their reply.
If there's anyone out there that knows, assuming the gun passes all safety and construction requirements necessary for importation, how could you go about importing one of these?Maybe it could turn out to be a good "Group Buy" idea...;f ;a ;f

I had the impression that importation of (all? most?) Russian guns was simply forbidden, as part of some larger trade deal Klinton made with the Russians. Hope I misunderstood.
No imports at this time. :(
THE MP-488 SKYPH IS NOT ON OUR IMPORT LIST AT THIS TIME.

Damn!!!! I hate finding threads like this! It looks pretty nice...I like the sights....oh well. Some will fine there way into the states they always do.
Shoot well.
Okay,I'll reword it a bit:My question is,what would be involved if you just called whoever in Russia makes them, and just ordered one? What sort of legal hoops would you need to jump through to make actual delivery to your FFL happen? Also, would there be any advantage or disadvantage, other than price,to buying 50 of them instead of just one?Somebody, somewhere,is selling these one at a time to somebody,or they wouldn't manufacture them,so why not to me?Anybody familiar enough with Import/Export details?I really want to know.I can order various electronic devices, music CDs,clothing, and auto parts from overseas, why not firearms?Granted, more paperwork will be necessary, but is it possible?Specifics when possible,please...
