What holsters do you use with your Maks? I use several holsters with my Maks including this Dillon on the left:

Lastly, do not be afraid to try holsters made for other handguns. For instance, I know that holsters made for Kahr K9/K40 pistols also work well. I often use my K9 Milt Sparks Summer Special with my Maks.

Is that a Galco summer comfort on the right? I'm thinking of buying one for my 4" XD9. What do you think of it?

Looks like a Galco Royal Guard to me. Kinda, sorta like a Summer Comfort - only made of horsehide and alot more expensive.

I just ordered a Don Hume H715M for my Mak.

The holster on the right is a Milt Sparks Summer Special with my #2 Norinco by the Accurizer Gunshop in Troy, MI. Regards, Richard :)

richardoldfield will likely cringe at this, but for OWB carry my Makarov rides in a....Fobus. Been using an old Milt Sparks Summer Special built for the BHP for IWB carry of the Bulgarian Blaster.

I've got an inexpensive nylon knock off of a Uncle Mikes amberdextious holster that I got at a gun show in a "box O holsters."

It can be worn either side, inside or outside the waistband, with or without a thumb-break, and has a pouch for a spare magazine.

I have one of those Hume holsters listed above. For the price you really can't go wrong with one. I mainly carry mine in a HBE Leatherworks Pro-tuckable, as it as some cant and I can forget it's there.

I use a Don Hume JIT (belt holster) for any carry gun.
I just like them and they are inexpensive.

Don't carry the Mak but I've still got a couple JIT holsters for it just in case.:)

Don't have a picture of the Mak in the holster, but the JIT holsters all look the same.
At first I was worried about no retention strap and I put a snap strap on the first holster I used, but it was a non issue and I took the strap off. Haven't used one since, without any problem.

Brian Dover, you are still a poster here but after your last post are a former friend. Why? I am cringing at the thought of Fobus! Do not feel like the Lone Ranger as I also cringe at the thought of FIST and Aker holsters. Why? I have not had very good luck with either of these. My aversion to Fobus is the holster and weapon stick out from the body and my arm constantly brushes against the pistol/holster. Better holsters pull the handgun in close to the body. Same here... I'm going to look into the Don Hume IWB though. I'm starting to not like the thumb break on this falco because it tends to dig into my love handles too much and can be uncomfortable without an undershirt.

richardoldfield, some Fobi(!) holsters seem to support the guns better than others. In the case of my Makarov, the Fobus doesn't let the gun sag away from my midsection as you suggest.

Almost a moot point for me, as the Mak is not a common carry choice in my case, and it's toted IWB for the most part anyway.

I've naerly stopped wearing IWB all together. Comptac,Fobus mostly for all carry weapons. I still have a couple Sparks VM2's that are great. I just prefer OWB now.I find I wear the same clothing with both. Anyway, Fobus for the Makarov's.

I have the Don Hume IWB. It's alright for the price, I think the retention strap at the top makes it a little too big but overall I like it.
