..and it was good.

Something about a nice shooter just brings a big smile to my face.
Of course, I get that everytime I buy a gun. ;Q

I went to the indoor range today and shot 105rnds thru the Bulgarian Mak at ranges of 10yrds (rapid fire),50ft and 25 yrds standing offhand.I used S@B 95gr ball ammo and snuck in 5 shots of the LVE Silver Bear 115gr JHP at the 25yrd effort...the range disapproves of steel cased stuff,so I saved it for last so I could throw out the steel cases.
THere were no jams,FTE or FTF's of any sort, the gun felt perfectly sprung for the S@B stuff, but I'll be going to a 19lb spring to handle the LVE as it smacks ya pretty good and can't be good for the frame.THe little gun is quite manageable and the fixed sights aren't the best, but good enough IMO.It definately is a "6 'O Clock gun" and shoots a bit high-about 6" with the S@B,a little lower with the hot LVE stuff.Windage is dead-on.
The trigger in SA is actually pretty decent and I suspect it will improve with use.The DA pull is a bit heavy, but fairly smooth;I had no trouble hitting well at the 10yrd mark in DA first shot rapid fire.
THere isn't really much to improve on this little gun,it just 'works',but I will inevitably mess with it at least a little...like adding the Hakan Bloodwood grips and a heavier spring for hotter ammo.:)

ive shot many a makarov.i find the plastic/bakelite grips they come with fit my hand better than any of the aftermarket grips including rubber and wood.

I would suggest you go to the 21 pound spring if you intend shooting the 115 grain bullets.
Just that much easier on the gun and shooter.

All I use is the 21 pound springs and I've never had a problem even with my light target loads.

Berto, thanks for the report, the D/A will improve with use. Your love affair is just beginning. Regards, Richard ;f

That's good to know,I'll order a 19 and 21lb then....do you try the gun with 'standard' loads shooting one handed weak grip, etc to make sure the 21lb spring combo works? I just want to make sure I won't have any problems with that weight being too heavy-but I also won't be using any light handloads, just factory stuff.
