I wanna download both MS Anti-spyware and Crap Cleaner (CCleaner).

What are the latest versions and links?

How do I use them safely without causing problems?

The 'registry cleaning' sounds scary.

Check this link, it makes me a little nervous.

The Ccleaner registry cleaner is pretty safe. There are others that you must use very carefully though.

The last MS antispyware update I got keeps reverting back to the previous version at each restart and I must download the same update over again.

A lot of recent anti-virus programs are now including anti-spyware.

I love the comment by the guy in the article after discovering IE was removed: "I guess I'll have to go buy a new computer."

LOL...what a dweeb! ;f

I downloaded CCleaner.

It found 78 registry issues that it wanted to delete.

I deleted them. That scared me.

Then it found over 350 temp files that it wanted to delete.

50 MB's of temp files. I deleted them.

YIKES!!

50MB really isn't a lot.Using the default settings is likely best. You could lose some saved passwords,if you have any,but that's about it.I've been testing some different anti-virus and firewall programs on a couple of PC's.

I tried to download MS antispyware but it asked for validation and wanted a long series of numbers. WTF?

You should be able to choose no validation.

"If you have not activated Windows, you will be asked to enter the 25-character Product Key printed on the Certificate of Authenticity (COA) you received with your PC or software purchase."
