P9 Covert vs. P9

Comparing the P9 Covert to a regular P9, will the regular P9's extra 1/2 inch grip length be a good idea for an inexperienced shooter like me and is it worth the trade-off of slightly less concealability? My hands would probably be described as medium. I do plan on doing a good amount of range shooting to stay familiar with my gun and I can (and plan to) obtain my CCW in the county I'm in. I'm also willing to put in time pricticing drawing the (empty) weapon, but I understand that with the covert (IWB) getting a good grip on the two-fingered butt takes some practice. I appreciate all your opinions and ideas very much as I hope to make the right purchase the first time.

Coverts generally come with two magazines. One is flush with the butt and the other is an extended mag with a "Grip Extension" butt plate. With the flush mag, the Covert is more concealable, and capacity is reduced by one round. However with the extended mag, you have the same grip as the P model. (The same thing applies to PM and MK models.)

The beauty of the Coverts is they have the concealabilty of the PM and MK models and with the extended mag they feel the same as the P models. And they come with all of the benefits of the P models

Its like having two guns in one.

It does not take long to get use to the short grip. I don't notice much difference using the flush mags vs. the extended mags. I guess I am just use to them. However whenever a friend picks up my Kahr, they usually make a comment about the short grip. To me concealed carry means "concealed", and I want the the biggest bang in the smallest package.

Coverts and PM or MK models conceal the same IWB. Remember it is the butt that is hardest to conceal not the slide.

My first Kahr was a K40 Covert. I loved it. Sadly it was retired back to Kahr with a cracked frame. However it functioned flawlessly during the time that I had it. 500 - 600 rounds.
