I just found out that I cannot buy a P9 Covert in Kalifornia--it's not on "the list" put out by the Dept of (In)Justice of approved firearms. Whatta bunch of BS. So, is there a consensus out there that the MK9 is more reliable than the PM9, or not? And for those answering yes, why?
Thanks for your input!

Personally, I'd buy a regular P9 and cut down the grip to covert/PM/MK proportions. Just use the 6 round, flush fit mag as a guide.
You can get P9s?
I'm starting to believe more and more every day that california isn't a state.
The MK9 is more reliable, but heavier. People rarely post problems with their metal kahrs. The problems are almost always with the polymer models. That doesn't mean all the polymers are bad. It's just that you either get a good one or a bad one.

I've had the MK9 Elite 98 for years!!
I WAS fondling the PM9 and thinking about it. But after GWG's documented problems and seeing how my MK has never given me any problems, except when I first got it, the previous owner's daughter broke the extractor, I decided to give it a BIG pass!!
As far as the Covert not being available in Kali, Kahr uses the Covert as a developmental stepping stone when miniaturizing the full size guns down to the MK versions!! Once the smaller version is out and debugged, they drop the Covert from the line!!
The did it with the K9 Covert and the K40 Covert. Those guns have passed into Kahr memory!! If they follow the same progression, not that the PM9 is in the consumer driven debugging phase, the P9 Covert will be phased out!!
It was not worth the time and money to satisfy the Socialist State of Kalifornication's anti gun lust, for a transitional model!!
Love my PM9, I have not had any problems. Zero malfunctions. I just picked up a 2nd PM9 the other day. I should be putting atleast 300 rounds through it early this week. I hope it runs as good as my first one does.

FWIW:
I prefer the MK9 over the PM9 - despite the weight penalty.
I always end up smiling :) when I shoot the MK9, but not when I shoot the PM9. Hmmmmmm............

Not if I have anything to do with that! ;f
Seriously though, as long as there are P9's out there we'll have our P9 Coverts... unlike the K9 & K40 Coverts the P9 & P40 Coverts don't need a special frame. Besides, it's easy enough to cut down a P9 or P40 if you couldn't find a P9 or P40 Covert. ^c

I'd suggest the MK9. ;)

;i Whatever.
My PM9 has been great. I have well over 300 rounds through it now with various brands of ammo and it chambers everything. I am very pleased.
The longer I carry the PM9, the more satisfied I selected this over the MK9. Depending on the shorts I am wearing, the weight of the PM9 can start to cause them to creep down. The MK9 would be all the worse. The PM9 is the first gun that I can comfortably carry (wear) anywhere - and I do! It's like putting a wallet in my pocket. I still wish Glock made something of this size, but for my use, the Kahr PM9 has fit the bill nicely.
One comment I will make for the MK9 is that with the metal frame - you have the option to do some additional customization. For example I looked at a Kahr MK9 several weeks ago that the owner had sent out to have some custom checkering done on the grip. Very very nice - flawless! Don't think I can do with a polymer frame. But then again - I think he said he has as much into the customization to the gun as the original cost of the gun itself (he had a couple of other things done to it as well).
FWIW - good luck!
