First 1911

I was reading through a couple of the threads here regarding the Kikmber VRS SA debate and I need some guidance. I went to the local gun store the other day and the guy showed me a Kimber Custom II for 640.00 that he owned and said perfectly fine with no modifications. I am looking for a 1911 in the 500-700 range, mostly for range use, what springfield models are comprable?

I guess my question would be, if he owns it and it is "perfectly fine", why is he going to sell it? As far as Springers, their basic parkerized loaded model is very nice, has about every feature you could want including night sights. Can be found around here NIB for $669. For a ccw, you might also look at Springers lightweight Bi Tone model. Good luck.
