View Full Version : gone Kahr Krazy
I have been carrying a Kahr PM9 in a FIST holster for about a year now. It has almost replaced my Kimber CDP compact as my primary carry gun. This little gem is just so easy to carry. I have about 500 or so rounds through it with zero problems. With about 50 of those rounds being HP's. Anyway I just picked up my 2nd PM9 today. Now they are both at the gunsmith's getting trigger jobs. They will be at about 4.5 to 5 lbs when they are done. I am thinking about getting a T9 as well. I think I have it narrowed down to the T9, a Hi-Power or a Sig with the DAK trigger.
Can a smithy really bring the PM9's trigger down to 4lbs???;P
If this is true I want to get it done too. Let me know how it comes out, because at 4lbs trigger pull, this thing could be the quintessential mini tack driver.
I am guessing it will be closer to 5. I will let you know. I am supposed to pick them up at about 2pm Sat.

Gentlmen, a PM9 with a 4 lb. trigger pull is no longer a good candidate for concealed carry. Please bear in mind that a Kahr trigger is designed to serve the purpose of the gun it's in. While a PM9 can be very accurate for it's size, it's intended to be drawn from deep cover for self-defense hopefully without injuring the owner. I'm not trying to be a jerk. I just don't want to see someone with a zipper down their leg or a ventilated buttock. Or worse. ~sd

What article said is true. Taking a double action only trigger down that far is negating the safety that comes from that kind of trigger. Would it be like carrying an average 1911 cocked and unlocked?
Light trigger + no safety = dangerous in my book.
For instance, SA says the XD comes with a 5.5 to 7.5# trigger pull. My Kahr's had close to 9# triggers. They will be around 5# when finished with a smoother trigger. I understand what you are saying but I don't have a problem with keeping it at around 5#. I am used to a lighter trigger on my 1911's. As long as you have a good holster that covers the trigger guard and you keep your finger off the trigger untill you are ready to shoot.

The XD's have a trigger mounted safety AND a grip safety which must be depressed in order for the pistol to fire the PM9 has neither.

Yes, I would agree that a light double action trigger on a deep concealment gun may reduce the safety of this gun to many users who do not shoot very often and are not intimately(no jokes please)familiar with the gun. Even though the trigger is lighter you still have the long double action to keep the gun safe. Glocks are frequently touted as having a shorter lighter and crisper trigger pull than the Kahrs.

Apples and oranges. Put a trigger safety (the little bar sticking out of the middle of the glock trigger) on the kahr, and you'd have apples to apples.
well the triggers ended up coming in at a hair under 6lbs. He though he could get around 5lbs. Said after a few hundred rounds it could get down around 5.5lbs or so. Nice smooth pull already. I don't see how this could be any less safe. It is still a long pull. Now it is just smoother, and lighter
Keep in mind that many shooters don't keep a round chambered, adn simply chamber a round as part of the draw. If that is the case, then a lighter, shorter trigger pull would be a big improvement on the Kahr without compromising safety.
It's quite simple....keep your finger off the trigger until you intend to fire. All the safeties in the world won't save you if you ride the trigger on the draw (or the re holster).

I don’t see a 4.5lb Kahr trigger as being any less safe then a 4.5lb GLOCK trigger (which is what my carry GLOCK pulls with its 3.5 connector)… I know that the GLOCK has a trigger safety, but it doesn’t have nearly as long of a trigger stroke or the consistent pressure that you find with the Kahr trigger either.
