Hello guys....I am new here at 1911 club. But I have always liked shooting my friend's Colt Series 70 (which i supposed to buy at the time i didn't have enough cash).

It is very accurate, and it's a tough fella.

But never have shot Colt 38 Super before. I heard lots of very good things about it comparing to .45 series 70.
From it's accuracy, durability, etc..

If you have to choose owing one of them, which one will you choose and please explain why??

What's the major differences between this two, other than the caliber size. Thanks for sharing.

If I had to only choose 1...it would be the 45. Only because of all the ammo choices. I have a .38 super also and really like it, but ammo choices are limited if you dont reload.

I own various colts in both calibers. I would also cast my vote for .45 ACP ammo is cheaper and seems to be more plentyfull in my local gun shops.;g

I would go with the 38 Super because I shoot it much better than the 45 and you can get a 9mm barrel and shoot for very little money.

I have both a 1911 in 45 and 38 super. If I were down to one of those I'd keep the 45 with no regrets. Better ammo selection.
Cheaper to shoot factory ammo in.
Easier to get brass for reloading.
Better stopper if needed. (It's still just a 9mm dia bullet)
The 38 super is a fine round, but one that's on it's way out. The 357sig delivers more velocity with the same bullets and is more available. If I were to go with a 9mm gun, then it would be the 9mm Parabellum. That's available cheap ammo.
