View Full Version : Makarov trivia...
Before the Makarovs started flooding the country, rumor had it that Taurus was condiering introducing a polymer framed copy.
That would have been pretty interesting I think.

thank god the ultra cheap steel maks did flood the market. Nothing against Taurus (okay maybe it is), but they need to learn how to make an auto trigger not feel like it's connected with rubber bands that isn't a copy of an italian gun.
Thier wheelies feel great (especially for the price), but thier autos kinda suck (PT-92 line aside).
I like their Beretta clones and the 24/7 series but I otherwise agree that the revolvers are the better of the two lines. I just think that a polymer framed makarov would have been very interesting is all.

I thought I saw a Makarov copy with a polymer frame and an american style mag release. Didn't look too bad, but it was like twice the price... so that kind of takes away from how cool the Mak really is...
The russians do have one like you described, the Skyph.

It's a shame that they can't import them in the US. They also make an interesting revolver in 9x18!

I think if the Skyphs are ever imported they will be a great seller. I know I would pick one up.

IF it was a Skyph, Gorelicks, do you remember where you saw it? Was it for sell over here?

All I remember is seeing a pic and thinking it was interesting. I don't remember anything about them being imported or not being imported...

I'd buy a skyph in a heartbeat!
Only if they came with 12rd mags and you could readily get more of them. Otherwise you would have the same problem as high cap mak owners have now, which is very frustrating for me.
TED
Gorlicks, you got a picture of a Skyph? I've never heard of them. They sound interesting.

axel,
Libertas posted a picture in an earlier thread. Look for "Skyph" down below this thread.
Thanks pistolwhipped. I want one!
