Greetings,
I am seriously considering the purchase of a Springfield Armory TRP, with the black finish. What are your opinions and experiences with this pistol.
Thanks

I think the Armory Kote or Coat holds up better than bluing. Only change I plan on making is maybe better grade internals, Lately, with a few more rounds down the pipe, I'm not too satisfied with the wear on the rack grade hammer and sear.

I bought a TRP Operator and loved it so much that I bought a TRP w/o the rail.
Love them both to pieces. :)
I simply cannot say enough good things about them.
In that price range, you may want to look at a Baer, but I'll take either of my TRP's over a Baer any day, just my personal preference.

This isn't a new opinion to anybody that has been reading here for a while, but here goes. I think that under a $1000 Kimber makes a more consistent gun than Springfield. It's been my experience, at this level, that Kimber's triggers are better, their sights are better regulated from the factory and they're more accurate.
At the price point of the Springfield TRP my allegiance switches to back to the Springfield. At this level I think the slide and barrel are better fit giving the TRP a better overall feel of quality on the firing line and off.
Beyond the price of the TRP, without reservation, I'd go with a Les Baer. The Baer's are all hard fit by hand whether it's the least expensive Concept I or the Ultimate Master. Baer's in my experience are the best fit, most consistently accurate 1911s on the market.
JM2c, take it for what it's worth.

In case you're interested in the TRP Operator, here's a photo.
