Anyone used one of these? I'm thinking of having one installed on a Kimber Custom and was curious of pros/cons. Will the gun fit most standard 1911 holsters with this type of rail? I'm thinking of getting their newest one designed for the X200. Thanks in advance for any help.
I haven't used one personally, but I do know that the Marine Corps sent all of their USSOCOM Detachment One pistols to Dave and had him install light rails.

That speaks volumes for Dave Dawson's reputation and craftsmanship, and is good enough for me.
The one thing that I do know about the X200 is that there aren't currently very many holsters designed for pistols with this light attached. And a holster designed for an M3 will NOT work. As far as I know, the X200 uses the same MilSpec rail mount that the M3 uses. So finding a holster for the pistol w/ rail (but no light) attached shouldn't be any problem.
I know for a fact that the pistol with rail will fit in an standard duty holster.
I tried a Kimber with the rail in my Safariland 070 and it worked perfect.
As for concealment holsters, sorry can't help.

That is the reason that MEUSOC sent thier pistols to Dawson, so they would 100% fit in thier current use holsters with his rail installed.

Actually this is false on many levels.
There are many MEU(SOC)'s, and no one within a MEU with the exception of the embarked Force Reconnaissance Platoon carries a MEU(SOC)pistol.
The MEU(SOC) Pistol is built by the PWS at Quantico. It does not use the Dawson rail.
Not sure where your info came from, but it is incorrect.
Hope that this clears some muddy waters.

That's why I said, "...the Marine Corps... USSOCOM Detachment One..." and not MEUSOC. I know for an absolute fact that they sent their pistols to Dave.... ;c

Sorry Tex, my post was re Jakethe snake-not you. He was the one who stated that the "MEUSOC's" sent their pistols to Dawson.
I thought that it was obvious.
I know where the Det pistols went- i wrote the spec's on them.
My mistake... I thought that we were having a miscommunication. ;c

No sweat, mis communication is a common issue.
Stay safe down there.

Was that the standard 1911 Safariland 070 Holster. That's the only reason I have not started carrying mine is not sure if it will fit the 070. I have a Wilson CQB with the Detachable Rail, but I refuse to cary any holster other than the 070 on Duty.
I know I can take my rail off but I do not want to.
