I may be picking up my first HK tomorrow(7/16). I am going to look at a USP 9C and a USP 45C. Both in SS.
The gun will be used for CC all year round.
Any input pro/con would be appreciated.

$600 for the 9mm
$650 for the .45
I have both in SS. I use a CTAC holster for both.

A local dealer has them for just a bit more(probable the cost of shipping).
I want the LEM trigger and just found out its $95 from HK per gun plus shipping. They do not try to please do they.

Gotta go with the .45 Compact. I love mine. I'm also a 1911 guy, but I must say my Variant 9 Compact has replaced my 1911's for CCW.
Same capacity, only slightly wider, never hiccups, I mean, what's not to love???
It's personal preference though as they are both practically the same except for caliber/capacity.
Do you like 9mm or .45 better is what I think it comes down to.
Take the plunge, you will not be dissapointed.
OH, which way were you leaning and why?

If you want an LEM trigger search the net. I remember seeing a like new .45 compact LEM not too long ago on HKPRO for about $650 shipped. The LEM's have been on the for sale boards alot more recently.
As for HK and the LEM conversion, aren't you being a little harsh. I mean, them converting your gun is really no different than a gunsmith doing a trigger job or a certififed armorer doing the switch. They would all charge about the same. Seriously, did you expect them to work on your gun for free?

The 9 is good but to keep down all future thoughts of , do I have enough fire & stopping power. Get the 45.

get the .45,i have stainless compact in .45 and i'm trading in my P2000 with the LEM for a .45 tac.just looking at a 200 gr gold dot inspires a lot of confidence ;P
The USP in .45 is the best handgun I have ever fired. So needless to say, I'd get the .45 ;f

i carry the .45c in a blade tech IWB. great gun for CCW.
Is there a noticeable difference in the size of the compact 9mm vs .45?
One of these will probably be my next purchase also. I just sold my G23, and cant decide which of these I would rather have. The 9mm is cheaper on ammo, but I would feel more confident with the .45

not much. the major difference is capacity. of course the 9mm will give you more, but i have never liked 9mm. the .45 compact is one sweet shooting pistol.

The 9mm/.40 USPc and the .45 USPc have slightly different grips. They're not drastically different, but it's something to get a feel for before deciding which to get. If the 9mm doesn't inspire much "stopping power" confidence, or if the .45's low capacity is a problem there is always the option of the .40. More rounds than the .45 with the slimmer grip profile of the 9mm, and still a capable round by most estimations. For what it's worth, I think the 9mm is a perfectly capable round.
At any rate, I'd let the way the guns fit your hand dictate which one you buy. Your level of comfort handling the firearm is far more important than the caliber you're shooting.
I'd go with the 9mm, but not stainless. I prefer black guns for CC. The finish on an HK is very durable.

How's the quality of H&K? Looking for a good CCW 9mm or 45 compact pistol.
Steve
P.S. CDNN is running a special on new H&K 9mm USP compacts (TT9P) with polymer frame for only $259 or $289 for the 45 ACP (TT45P). Should I pay more for the updated version in the P-2000 series?
