where would you look first, second, etc,to actually buy one and take it home,as opposed to looking at a pic and ordering one?

No shopping trip in Houston is complete without a visit to Collector's Firearms (http://www.collectorsfirearms.com/)

Fountain Firearms, located at Beechnut & Highway 6, should have some makarovs in stock. Also, I saw one for $169 at "A-gun-shop" in Addicks, which is the next town going north on Highway 6 past I-10. Heading north, it's on the left side in the strip mall past the Exxon station. Otherwise, I'd suggest a gun show, but I don't think there is one in town until August.

Vincent, do you remember how much you paid for the PSP magazine at Collectors? I need to get one. Thanks. Collectors Firearms has a fantastic selection of guns and accessories, but $300 for a Bulgarian mak is ridiculous.

I was just looking for a mak in houston about a week or two ago. I called Collectors Firearms and the told me they had a Bulgarian for about 260. I passed and kept looking.
I ended up at Fountain Firearms and bought a Bulgarian that was marked in "very good" condition for 200. They still had 6 or 7 in the cardboard boxes in the display case. I was happy with the condition of the gun and willing to pay the price because i was tired of looking. They also had a selection of Russian maks. I would try them if you are still looking and willing to pay a little more than you see quoted on the internet. Oh and i believe Fountain is actually at the corner of Bissonett and HWY 6.
I also tried the gun show in Pasadena but only saw two at the whole show. One was marked 180 and one for 175 but i didnt think they were in very good condition. Both were Bulgarian.

i paid 75 per, which isnt the cheapest ive heard of them but they are so dammed hard to find, and unlike alot of people i prefer to buy something from a person not a website,i like to satisfy that the thing im buying is as good as the ad says it is,which is why certain things i deplore buying off a website, youre trusting the other person's judgment as to the condition of what youre about to buy...
