View Full Version : Best .40 For Low Light Shooting?
Was shooting last weekend at friend's farm and wanted to see how bad the muzzleflash (G23) was near dark. It was horrendous with both Rem JHP (Wally World Valu-Pack) and Rem Golden Sabre (180 gr). Anyone recommend a good .40 JHP with reduced flash?
I've shot Double Tap in low light conditions and it wasn't bad. There's still a flash, but much less than the other ammo I had that day.
Braden is right, we use flash-suppressed powder in all of our loads at DoubleTap.

Nothing that uses Power Pistol!!;f
(If you've never reloaded, the humor will be lost.)
Thanks!
Will look into DT ammo.

I hadn't thought of this issue, but it's good to see that Mr. McNett has, as I just ordered two boxes of DoubleTap ammo to try.
Definitely excellent prices on defensive rounds! Considering that I've been paying $13 for a box of 20 rounds, $22 for 50 rounds is a serious bargain!
I've read about your ammo in these forums, and I'm impressed with your attention to detail. The low-flash powder is just another bonus. If I like the way it shoots, you'll have a loyal customer.

Have heard good things about Ranger T's being pretty good as far as muzzle flash is concerned, what have you folks experienced?

According to a Hornady ad, their new TAP FPD line uses low flash powder.
