I know about buyers remorse but what do they call it when you don't buy?
Just left the local show, guy there had a decent shape blued Delta, straight cocking serations and showing a bit of wear on the blueing. Lowest cash price was $800, had it marked at $875. I'm really thinking about this one and with all of my recent health problems, you only live once. I really wanted a stainless Delta, is what I keep telling myself, but I see a Kimber Eclipse in my future as well (always wanted a "pretty gun")!!
So what do you guys think? Did I do the right thing walking away? Or should I just go get the darned thing and be over it?
What time is the next meeting for us 10mm addicts? ;f ;1
Been there.
Done that.
Got the T-shirt.;f

G,
You bought the Eclipse right? Do you still want the Delta? Or did the Kimber scratch the the "itch"?
I would think the Kimber is a better gun but I have no real experience to base that on.

I just sold a NIB Stainless Delta for 1050.00
I have a NIB Delta that is blue and a Stainless that I shoot.
If you need a Delta TODAY $800 is the going rate. If you have the time to look for a deal, they can still be found

IMHO, that's a bit high. I think blued ones should be between $600 and $700. The stainless should be $800 and up. But people are getting what they want for them cause there ain't no more. Keep checking gunbroker and gunsamerica and good luck.

I might sell my stainless Delta Elite with box and papers. It has a few light handling marks, but it sounds like it's nicer than the blued one was. I wouldn't sell it for $800, but probably wouldn't be a lot more than that...
BTW, for an accurate shooter, the Kimber Stainless Target II is more accurate than both the Delta Elite and the Eclipse (of the 3 examples I have compared) and they are currently a little cheaper than both of them.
I think a 10 ring member is trying to sell their Kimber STII NIB, but I don't remember how much...
Just food for thought...

Hairtrigger,
Thanks for the heads up, anywhere special I should be looking. I'm checking GA and GB almost daily. BTW love the SDB I got from you, couldn't be happier, thanks again!! ;c
Bambihunter,
Keep me in mind on that stainless please, I'm looking for a shooter, not a safe queen so somethng may just come of this. Feel free to email pics zboy350nospam@hotmail. (just remove the nospam and add a .com to it.
No rush to buy, just got the itch really bad!! ;g ;P ;f

About two years ago $600-$700 was the price range I saw in various places for blued Deltas in decent used condition. Add $200 for stainless Deltas in similar condition. The price seems to have gone up on each about $100 a year. So my own experience is that you're relatively on target but behind the curve.
As you've said, Delta's aren't being made anymore and haven't been made for some time. There also is growing interest in 10mm, as evidenced by the Kimbers and Glocks. Kimber's "limited edition" target 10mm tested the market and it was good enough for Kimber to do an Eclipse in 10mm. It might not be a vast market but it's evidently good enough to keep pushing up the price of the sexiest 10mm, the Delta Elite. And the Delta is one heck of a good shooting pistol too.

There used to be a very wise man posting on another gun board with a great philosophy about such purchases: "Have patience, carry green!"
Right before Christmas last year I was able to score a very nice stainless Delta, with box and extra magazine, for under $650. (I suspect the seller was motivated to raise funds for holiday gift-buying.) Point is, if you're looking for out-of-production guns, you gotta be out there beating the weeds a little bit, and sooner or later your deal will come along.

I travel 2 states for my job. I usually spend my "lunch" in a gunshop. I also browse during the evenings when possible. I often leave empty handed, just looking for deals.
I just keep a mental list of guns I want and both eyes open.
lets see here,i paid 850 for my round top/strait cocking seration DELTA ELITE IN LATE 2001.Man i love it .one of my favorites thats for sure.its heavier than any of my other 1911s.
very cool 1911.i have it apart as we speak.2 recoli springs.a large one and a much smaller one that fits inside at the muzzel end.lots of "holidays"swearl marks that are very very shallow but cetainly visable.
Any how i wouldnt sell for 850.natuarly every thing and every Body has a price!

I say forget it. I like 1911's but feel they are way overpriced. Get a G29/20, a bunch of ammo, and be done with it. Or you could almost get both 10mm Glocks for the price of one stainless Delta. Can we say RIP OFF!? As far as pretty goes, my G29 is beautiful in my eyes. My $0.02.

Wally I got both of those already, I want a 1911 platform 10mm. I have always liked the look and feel of a quality 1911 and it ain't going git much better than a Colt. That part I know, but dangit that Eclipse is hollerin at me something fierce!!!!! ;c ;f
In the past 9 months or so,with help from my friends I found a blue Delta for 600 and a SS Delta for 750. Look around with the green as stated earlier, deals are still around.

AAARRRRRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES a little more light but yes!!!!!!;) ;f ;f ;f ;f
i just bought this Delta off GB this morning. stock but for the trigger, consulted my smith and he wasn't concerned about it (it's getting a ground-up rebuild) and the gun was clean so i went for it. i wanted a blue one though which actually took me a bit longer as for some reasons there seems to be more stainless getting sold nowadays and most of the blues i've seen have been a lil beat. 3 mags, no box, manuals are free from Colt, took credit cards, no extra fee, $899, it's mine:

Very Nice Susan!!!! ^c ;W
I got a little impatient and decided on a S&W 629 4inch that my local dealer's had for awhile. Paid $450 but got a decent blaster. That ought to cool me down for awhile.
Pics to follow, didn't get to bring it home due to a paperwork screw up on my part. Tomm though she will get a nice cleaning and then a good workout!!
Looks just like this one though.

I just bought a 95% Blue Delta Elite for $625 +$25 shipping about two months ago. You can find deals, but you have to be quick b/c the lower priced Delta's disappear quickly

I really lucked out with my Delta Elite. I bought it pre-owned but 100% unfired about 7 years ago for a little over $500. There was no way I could turn down a deal like that.
Susan: very nice grab on the blued Delta.
Looks like a great base gun for Vic to work with. ;)
thanks agtman! for everything.. it's gonna be one sweet daily driver and an heirloom to boot. can't wait (but will)..

If anyone is interested Cabelas in Hamburg Pa. has what looks to be a very nice Colt Delta Ultimate stainless (full polished) with box for $850. At least they did 1 1/2 weeks ago. I didn`t handle it but it is nice enough that they put it in their fancy "Gun Library". I would imagine they could ship it to the Cabelas "near you" for purchase. MadMarcus
there's also a guy selling six (6) NIB Blues for 1150 each on GA. they're unfired and un-touched. top dollar but look pretty darn cherry. only one is shown but i talked to the guy and he said he had six. bought from different places, early serial #s but not "first editions".

I scratch my head wondering why some of the guns are in the library at Cabelas.
Go to Jaqua's and you are free to pick up a $40,000.00 gun without a salesman breathing down your neck
