Yesterday was a fun time at the range. Had the chance to try out my friends new G22. It is one sweet shooter. I finally shot some Double Tap through the 29 yesterday. When I ordered the ammo I spoke with Mike McNett and he recommended the 21# spring. The gun worked flawlessly with all the loads I fired through it. The loads I fired are:
Federal 180gr Hydrashok (20 rounds)
Georgia Arms 180gr practice load (100 rounds)
Double Tap 180gr practice load (50 rounds)
Double Tap 165gr Gold Dot HP (8 rounds)
The Federal round flashes too much for me (about an 8-12 inch fire ball) so I won't be getting anymore of those. The Georgia Arms load is pretty stout and I like it. It didn't flash at all. The Double Tap loads are awesome. The practice load feels a little more powerful than the Georgia Arms load and the Gold Dot round is a sweet shooting round. Lots of power. The Double Tap rounds are everything that I have read on this site. No flash, powerful and very high quality.
With the spring and the Gold Dot Double Tap round, my G29's felt recoil is very similar to my friends G27. He also agreed and I think he is feeling the itch for a G29. ;f This is now my favorite gun in my small collection and I will be ordering a C-tac soon along with a lot more Double Tap.;b I can't wait to start carrying the best of all Glocks.^c
I just ordered a 21# spring last week and man I can't wait to slap that baby in and head to the range.

I love my G29, it is my primary and favorite carry weapon. I also load it up with DT 165gr. Gold Dots, but my holster is a Sidearmor IWB, not a C-Tac.:)
The G29 is my primary carry gun.I carry it loaded with Double Tap 155 Gold Dots in an Aker belt slide holster.I made a few mods to it like a Glock 3.5# connector, extended slide release,Mag- Na- Porting, and as I posted above I ordered a Wolff 21# recoil spring from McNett last week. Its one of many 10mm's I've owned and I'd say the G29 loaded with Double Taps is the all around best 10mm package available.

Scratch away dogman. Your going to have to change your name after you get one. Something like G29dogman... jws10mm, you are going to love the 21# spring. The 29 is really easy to control with full power DT ammo and that spring. I believe it will also be my primary carry when the holster arrives.
Hey Wallygator, I just recieved my 21# spring and guide rod today. I can't wait to try it out, hopefully tomorrow if I don't have to work. I'm gonna bring some DT 155's and Georgia Arms 180 grain practice loads with me to the range. I'm sure the G29 will shoot great with the Mag-na-Porting and the wolff spring! I'll post the results ASAP.

Your going to like it a lot. Did you buy an aftermarket barrel in to magnaport it? I magnaported my SP101 .357 and it definately reduced the recoil. Some rounds, however, would blow some serious fire out those ports. Have fun.;c
I just got back from the range with my G29. It shoots so sweet! The accuracy of this gun is great as with all the sub-compacts Glocks I own. With the porting and 21# spring the G29 feels like shooting a .40 cal. The Georgia Ammo 180's are really light and controllable, and the Double Tap 155's are a lot easier to shoot. The new recoil spring seems to make the gun feel "tighter" than the stock Glock spring. As for the Mag-Na-Porting, I had this done on my factory stock Glock barrel. I know people say its bad to port a defensive handgun but I love the lighter recoil, faster more accurate follow up shots, and excellent controlability.

^c I agree with the gun feeling tighter. It shoots sooo sweet. Glad it you like it. How did they magnaport the stock barrel? Did they have to go through the slide? The reason I ask is because it looks like there is not enough barrel sticking out of the end of the slide for them to port it. Your post makes me want to go shoot mine right now. I love this gun. G29!;f
Mag-Na-Port cuts through the slide and barrel. The cuts on the slide are trapezoid shaped about 1/2 inch long by 1/4 inch wide extending from the face of the front sight back. The nice thing about Mag-Na-Porting is the ports are cut on an angle so the gasses blow outward and there is no carboning of the front sight.

I've fired Winchester Silvertips from my Witness. It it wrong for me to say that at the range I enjoyed the big bright fireball? Flashy powder doesn't make for good defense ammo, but at the range more is better!
I carry my G29 more than any other pistol. I keep it loaded with Doubletap 155gr GD or Doubletap 135gr JHP.
Hey bac1023 how do the DT 135's feel compared to the 155's? I' ve been wanting to try some but I have a few boxes of Corbon 135's to use up first.

Ted Nugent said in one of his books that he had his G20 MagNaPorted and loves it. I don't plan on having my Glock done, but I did send in my blued 6" Smith 57 .41 Mag the day I bought it way back in the day. It's really nice the way they do it and the cuts are very small up by the sight rib. Most people wouldn't even notice them. MagNaPort does a great job.
