View Full Version : night sights
How easy is it to have night sights installed on a USP compact? Should just about any gun store be able to do it? Require any special sights, or the same sort of ones that would go on a Glock or other semi-auto? Sorry for the dumb question..
Generally any good gunshop can do this for you.

Greetings Nyper,
Good luck in getting your sights changed to Night Sights. I have them on my P2000 V2 (.40 S&W) and really enjoy them. They are the factory HK sights that came with the weapon.
As for size, I do know that the fixed Night Sights from HK come in at least three different flavors, that is, one size for the Full Size USP, another size for the Compact USP, and another for the P2000/2000SK.
Whatever brand you obtain, i.e., HK (TRU GLO), AmeriGlo, Trijicon, Meprolight, etc., just ensure that they are designed/sized for your USP Compact.
I have purchased magazines from these folks with no problems, and they do list some HK (factory) night sights for sale:
Cal's Sporting Armory (http://www.calssportingarmory.com/HK%20Pistol%20Accessories.htm)
I think that taking your weapon to your local/trusted/reputable gunsmith is best for this work (sight change). Shipment to Sterling, VA and back is a small fortune these days, and would be near the price of the sights themselves.
Any other work on your handgun--even with the cost of shipping--I would, however personally be inclined to have HK Factory Service (in Sterling, VA) complete it.
Again . . . not a dumb question.:)

You can do it yourself. It's easy. You need a hammer. hard wood dowel, and Locktite. A boresight laser or dial calipers are nice to get them aligned.
