View Full Version : mag release
how do most of you use the magazine release on the usp/p2000? It is different from the guns I own now, so it may take some getting used to. I couldn't decide if it felt easier/more natural to use my pointer finger to unload or use my thumb. I had to shift the gun around in my hand when using my thumb it seemed.
This is important because I shoot IDPA and time is of the essence. Tomorrow I get to pick it up and bring home so I will practice more then.

Use your trigger finger like a lefty shooting a 1911.

+1 - best mag release in the business too.

I also use my trigger finger. I like the mag release on this gun more than any other pistol I've fired exactly for that reason. I've got somewhat small hands and I don't have to change my firing grip hardly at all to activate the release.

I'm assuming it has the ambi lever style mag release like my P7. I use my middle finger to hit the mag release in competition. Trigger finger sticks out from the gun while i'm hitting it. I revered the mag button on my Beretta and hit it the same way. I wish this was an option for Glocks.

I also use my middle finger for mag release. It just works better for my med. size hands.

I used the ambidextrous mag release easy on my USP and P2000. Practice with it for a day and it’ll come natural.
