With the introduction of the heavy G21L and G20L longslides have you considered a line of 10mm super/magnum/uberblaster ammunition? Something that would carry the explicit warning that it's only to be fired in a longslide with a 24 lb recoil springs or something sturdier like a TC and geared to take advantage of the longer barrels and increased slide mass?

I'm thinking that kind of velocity with a 180 grain bullet would be a good starting goal! ;f

You can get that kind of velocity out of a 180gr. with a 6" barrel and IMR's 800X.

I scored 1500FPS with just 11gr of 800X and a 155gr GDHP (G20/KKM5").
I was consistantly getting 1490's to low 1500's before I shoot my chrony over at Cherry Creek. I'll have to get a new one, and see what I get, A new one that only has the sensors in the line of fire :)
My reading seem awfully high with 800X, but BD and the rest where spot on with the book.
You can also get some magnum power out of 2400, BD, and AA#9!!!
In fact I was getting wicked numbers with AA#9, with the same hudge *** recoil of 800X. I mean you just have to ignore the super flat primmers. ;P
BTW: I love PP in my .45ACP. My G.I. (NO BEAVER TAIL) tore my hand UP, after only a 100 rounds!

agree on aa#9
my 180s go 1350ish out of witness compact with 3.5" bbl
{I scored 1500FPS with just 11gr of 800X and a 155gr GDHP (G20/KKM5").}
If you are getting that high with only 11gr, I wonder what 13gr of 800x pushing a 155gr XTP does? This is my std loading for my 10mm work using a 155gr bullet.

IS the 20L bbl atleast 7"? He may already have something that will do 180gr @1500.

Dam, that would be awesome with a 7". DT has a 200gr @ 1300 out of a stock G20 bbl. If you dropped the weight to 180gr, and used a 6" bbl you should get up to about 1475. Thats my guess anyway.

Sounds like a nightmare in the making. It would be a matter of time before this load would be fired in something it's not designed to be fired in and the lawsuits start flying. Besides, if it's beyond SAAMI specifications, it's a bomb regardless of what gun it's fired in. The 10mm isn't a cartridge like the 45 Colt where there are two SAAMI recognized standards, standard pressure and "Ruger Only" loads. The 10mm has a SAAMI max. of 37,500psi, period. Sure, Mike can probably squeeze a few more FPS out of his current loads, but he didn't do that because accuracy suffered and he didn't feel the added velocity was more important than match accuracy. I tend to agree.
I think it's smarter, and safer, to find a 6.5" S&W 610 to get those few more FPS from his loads rather than add more powder. DT 10mm ammo screams out of my 6.5" 610, and I rest easy knowing the ammo is within SAAMI standards.
