Today’s My Birthday… Look What I Got!

Well, today is my birthday… when my wife asked me what I wanted from her & the girls, a few weeks back, I told her nothing had changed from last year, the year before that, the year before that & so on & so on… a gun of course!

Turns out I probably should have been a little more specific on make & model as this is what I found in the box I opened this morning before leaving for work…….

Well, if I do decide to go with a bobbed hammer I definitely won't be sending it out for this mod... I'll be able to handle that job myself nicely with the tool pictured below... it even has a built-in, flip-out file to knock down the sharp edges afterwards! ;)

Seriously, here in Kalifornia (at least where I live) Toys R' Us has banned the sale of TOY guns! I swear, I am NOT making this up. If I want a toy gun, I have to buy one off the internet!!! I guess I'm lucky in one regard...there is no ten-day waiting period or transfers to TFFL's...yet.

I haven't taken a rifle out after a whitetail in years... I live 1/2 mile South of the "rifle zone" here in MI so 99% of my deer hunting is done with a bow, then a shotgun/handgun, then a muzzleloader & then back to bow again. I prefer bow hunting for whitetails over everything else.

That's a sign right there at how overpopulated the cottontails are getting around my area... more then 1/2 of the rabbits in that picture were taken in a 15 minute time period!

So far I haven't been on any hunt out of Michigan so yes, there are plenty of things I haven't hunted out there yet. :)

(The buffalo is my only “exotic” thus far & that hunt was a rare circumstance that I just happened to stumble into… a case of “not what ya know, BUT who ya know” for sure!)

Not to mention that I have 2 native species left to hunt in Michigan before I can even claim that I've hunted everything legal here. ^c

(I'd like to have hunted everything MI has to offer before I start heading out of state... furthermore, I'd like to hunt everything the US has to offer before I even contemplate going out of county.)
