"P" and "K" slides interchange?

I have a K9 and I am considering a P40. Does anyone know if the slides will interchange between frames? I would like to have both .40 and 9mm in steel and polymer frames and that would do the trick if it works.

The slide will not interchange between the steel and polymer.

The polymer frame has steel guide rails in the lower dust cover.

The slide from the polymer has a wider guide-rod/ dust cover that will not slide into the steel frame dust cover.
