That small enough?

1. Open the image in paint.
2. Go up to the "image" menu, click on "strech/scew" then reduce the size to whatever %... I used 60% for this attachment.

Now, you have to send me a full size picture of your avatar. Thats funny :)

Yeah, I tried that, but resolution just craps out when you get down to 100x100 pixels. Thanks, anyway.

Here's some stuff for your time and trouble!

Did you get what you wanted?

Did you get what you wanted?

Nope, not a big deal, though.
It was gonna be my new avatar when I eventually tire of my current pic.

Try these:

75X75 pixels (http://www.vicksburg.com/~v_jhaskins/Wimp%2075X75.jpg)

http://www.vicksburg.com/~v_jhaskins/Wimp%2075X75.jpg

100X100 pixels (http://www.vicksburg.com/~v_jhaskins/Wimp%20100X100.jpg)

Is this better?

OK, obviously we are not sure what he wanted in the first place.

I think he wanted the whole picture resized down to avatar size.

Some apparently think he wanted the picture cropped down to just show the sign.

I can do whichever he wants.

To me the sign is meaningless without the electrical substation in the background.

But it's dealer's choice.

How do you shrink the bytes. I have the right pixels but 22K bytes.

This is called "compression".

Not sure what software you are using, but try this:

In the toolbar click File-->Save as.

Type in a new file name so you don't over write your existing file!!!

Just before it saves the file, it should give you an option of choosing the level of compression or quality.

(High quality = low compression = large file.

Low quality = high compression = small file.)

Choose a fairly low quality (or high compression) and let it save.

Your newly saved file will be a smaller file size (fewer bytes) but the same physical size.

Of course, the resolution will be lower, but you don't care because you are dealing with on-screen viewing and a tiny image size anyway.

Ok I compressed it as far as it would go in 'picture it 10' but its still 16k bytes.

I'm still not exactly sure what physical size you want or what file size you are shooting for.

I took your original 60K file which is 500 X 667 pixels (6.94 X 9.26 inches) and downsized it to 75 X 100 pixels (1.04 X 1.39 inches) and saved it at 2 different compressions:

a. the greatest compression gives me a 2K file, but the resolution is really lousy. Can't read the sign in the tiny little photo.

b. saving it at lower compression gives me a 5K file and is a bit more legible.

Let me know if you want any of these or what size (photo and file) your are looking for. It's easy to do.

NRA,

Were you talking to me? Im not the one with the sign. I was trying to shrink my picture down to 100 x 100 pixels @ 6000 bytes. I'll post the picture here if you care to see what Im talking about. Thanks for the info.

Weird, that one is all garbled. Here is the right pixel size but uncompressed, because somehow Im messing that part up. Ive done this several times before, its just now it doesnt seem to work, and Im not sure what I did wrong.

Try these.

This is about 1.5K:

This is 3.1K:

I have about 7 or 8 photo editing packages (including PhotoShop and Roxio and Hp and others) but I really like this one.

Here is the download link:

PhotoFiltre (http://photofiltre.free.fr/utils/pf-setup-en.exe)

Some stuff is written in French, but it is really easy to use.

Good luck!
