This is for the Dallas Ft. Worth shooters.
Anyone know which walmarts sell the 45GAP ammo?
None in the Mesquite area carry it. I have only
found it at the gun shows and really need a Walmart
location to buy more.
My G38 is becoming my favorite Glock!

I realize I'm not in TX, but..
I asked our Wal-Mart about .45GAP and they had no clue when/if they might be getting it it. However, they (the sportsman center reps) did give me the names of a few local gun shops that might carry it. And the second one they told me did.
If you do get it out there please post so I can go in and try and get the one here to do the same!

I order it by the case over the internet. It's a LOT cheaper that way.

Still looking for the Walmarts that sell 45GAP ammo.
I was at my local Wal-Mart and asked the regular salesguy if they had any and if they were going to carry it in the future. He said he hadn't heard about the the caliber.

Same response from my local Wal-Mart. I just had to chuckle, and have him give me some .40 to go shooting. lol

I'm in Dallas. The Walmart on I 30 is hell.
I happend to talk to a very friendly guy at the Waxahachie Walmart who, although never having heard of the GAP before, was cooperative and enthusiastic. We had a nice conversation about shooting & hunting. He called the distributor for special order. But the distributor was out of stock, so he said it's useless to place an order at that point.
Cheaperthandirt is where you wanna pick up the GAP.

I will try and pick up a case at Mesquite BIG TOWN GUNSHOW THIS WEEKIN. But if else knows a good place to get the 45gap ammo cheap, then lets spread the word.
:soap:
Bye the way every time we go into a gunshop/sporting goods, we should be asking if they carry the 45gap ammo. ;? ;? ;?

in my experience, none of the gun show folks is willing to beat the price of the Rem ammo at cheaperthandirt. (drive over to FW for a rodeo show or somethin and on the way home pick up a few hundred cases
;f
And don't forget the military surplus store on 820 at Fort Worth, they have the 45gap available too.

What have you wound up paying so far locally?

The range has been $11.50 to $13.00 tax and shipping.
That was for cheap practice ammo. I have bought ever
kind of hi dollar hollow points also. All function great
in both the 37 and the 38.

the following was posted here http://glocktalk.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=3848399#post3848399
if you must buy ammo from WM then this is probably the best approach

Not true - I got my local Wal-Mart to start carrying WWB in 357sig, 50 round boxes for only $13.17.
I posted this info several times already....
1) Find your local store # : http://www.walmart.com/cservice/ca_storefinder.gsp
2) Submit an Online Store Feedback Form : http://www.walmartstores.com/wmstore/wmstores/Container.jsp?template=OnlineForm.jsp detailing that you want your store to start carrying such and such ammo (edited by Rusty to fix a broken link)
3) Use your real contact information. When Wal-Mart coporate calls your local store manager, he/she will be contacting you asap to meet your request. You should receive a callback from your local store within 2 or 3 days.
4) Wait for the ammo to come in, and start buying it. They will "special order" it about 3 times before they make it part of their normal stock order.
5) If your store mgr has a hard time finding a SKU to order the ammo with, tell him to contact store #2996 - they have all the info needed. My local guys told me they couldn't order also - but when they contacted Winchester directly, thats where they placed the order.
PART TWO:
(edited to combine my two existing posts & add info)
I just (the afternoon of 8-23-05) sent in a feedback form for my local walmart (#1339), with this message pasted in the comments box
I would like to get my local store (WM#1339) to carry Winchester 45 GAP ammunition - both the 230 grain fmj (US45G) and the 230 jhp (US45GJHP).
Links to those product descriptions on Winchester's website are below:

http://www.winchester.com/products/catalog/handgundetail.aspx?symbol=USA45Gjhp&
PART 3
(added 5:00 8-31-05)
I just got a phone call from my local WM Surecenter Assistant Manager (on the food side) who said he got my email from the corporate office and said that he had the 45 acp ammo I was looking for in stock..... I politely told him I was looking for 45 GAP not 45 acp and that it was different and I told him that I didnt have a SKU # for him but I did have the bar code #'s which he used to pull up 45 Gap 230 grain in the WM system.
the Winchester 45 gap 230 fmj USA45G bar code is "20892 21459".
we talked a little bit and he suggested that I go to the local gun dealer (by name) in town to buy the 45 gap ammo and I said that I really like being able to do all my shopping at WM and his prices are a good bit better than the dealer and even if it was something that they didnt necessarily have as a stocking item but I could order it and in a week or two it shows up I'd prefer to buy it from him, and he said ok he'll look into it
his computer indicates this is a non replenshable item and it has a price listed at $15.27 per 50 rd box and he was going to check into it and call me back when he finds something out
I will update this post or start a new one when I hear back from him.
The price does seem a little high (esp cause Ive been reloading almost everything I shoot in 45 GAP) but Im gonna go ahead and buy a couple of boxes at the very least if for no other reason than to say that I did it....
and I can always use more brass.

You could also try Ammoman. If the prices look high, don't forget that it includes free shipping.

That price is high, as is 95% of his stuff. His price comes out to $14.95 a box. I bought a case of that exact same ammo for $12.01 a box after shipping was included from this place
http://www.dnrsports.net/miva/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=DSC&Product_Code=FEDAE45GA&Category_Code=amerammofed
The only thing is, you won't get it as cheap now. When I bought it, it was $10something for 10 or more. It is now up to $11.42. But, that will still be a couple of bucks, per box, cheaper than ammoman.

www.outdooramericastore.com is a local store. They carry Speer Lawman 200Gr
FMJ. When they have it it is $10.25 a box. It sells out fast at that price though.
For all of you that don't reload, I will purchase your once fired brass. I would prefer to get it 500+ rounds at a time. Anyone interested PM me.

I will pay $35.00 per thousand + shipping for once fired brass. I need about 2,000 pieces. I'm not reselling it. I plan on shooting my G37 more, and I want to load 1,000 rounds at a time. I will have a G38 within the next few months , so I will have 2 G.A.P's to feed. I try to get to Dallas at least once every couple of months, and I was wondering where is the best place to get shooting/reloading supplies? I've been to the Bass Pro in Grapevine, and Sportsman Warehouse. I have not been to Cabelas yet, or any local gun stores.

Your best bet on the reloading supplies is probably going to be at http://www.natchezss.com/, provided you are buying in some form of bulk. They have half price hazmat fee right now.

So far the cheapest used brass I've see in the DFW metroplex is available at gunshows for $50/1000. $35/1000 seems to be a sweet dream.
I usually keep my eyes peeled but end up ordering starline brass.

I know it's not a lot, but I still have to pay $8.00-$10.00 for shipping, and $35.00 for brass that most non-reloaders are going to sweep down the lane anyway can go towards more ammo. Most of the guy's at the gun shows pick up lane brass for free, or buy it by he bucket, and jack up the price. This way at least the reloaders, and the non-reloaders keep there cost down, and we can all shoot a little more. Just an idea.

A great source for finding cheap ammo/ buy-in-bulk, is to get a copy of SHOTGUN NEWS, at look thru it. You can usually find it at most bookstores, and some grocery stores, in the magazine isle.
Two other good sources are Cheaper Than Dirt and The Sportsmans Guide.
Good luck and happy shooting !!
