...the Glock 26 is the best 9mm made. Hands down. No matter what you say you can't convince me otherwise. A tack drivin', slick shootin', never failin', always carryin', perfect fittin', piece of plastic and metal art. Almost 4000 rounds and it's getting better. I love this gun.;c ^c

I agree with some of your points, but best 9mm made? I think you seriously need to try some "high end" models.

Of course, if you're that happy with it, more power to you! ;Y

Its a nice subcompact.

I don't see any advantage going to a high end model. This 26 is very accurate, super reliable, and tough. Plus I can carry it all day, every day in comfort. It's so comfortable I sleep with it on my hip. In a C-tac of course.
My thoughts on the 26.....

I like the 26 as is no extensions for more covert carry or really hot weather working type of carry but the G19 or even the G23 are the perfect size and GUN.

cheers!

You also perfectly described the Lorcin 9mm.^5

Just kidding! I actually feel much the same as Wally about the G26.

Yes I like the Lorcin, PM9, P7, and any other gun you guys mention. I'm a gun nut so...I mean even the G19 has its place.:) I just love this 26. It does everything I want it to and then some. I even had a 19 and replaced it with a G29. Now I have the two best Glocks made IMHO.;c

Glocks just work. Nothing fancy, not too pretty, not real exotic. Just plain function.

+ 1 for the G19
it's my baby.... but the usp compact has caught my eye lately. I''l never trade the G19 or sell it but i just might get em a buddy ;)

Except the P7 is much heavier and burns your fingers when you shoot it too much.

That and he said the Glock 26 was a piece of art.

Yes it is and I did say that. Looks just as good if not better than a P7 IMHO, and doesn't burn my fingers no matter how many rounds I put through it. Oh and I can almost buy two 26's for one P7. The P7 is sweet, but it should be for that price. What a deal the 26 is!

Here is a link to their site (http://www.bhgunrack.com/index_all_products.asp) but they do not do any internet sales.
B&H is a great store but I do not think the owner is interested in expanding into the likes of Glockmeister.

I sold my P7M8 on Auction Arms and bought a G19, a G36, and a Savage 93R17FV with the money. All brand new in the box. Man it's great having a close friend with an FFL who doesn't charge me anything above his cost.

That is great. I've always wanted a P7 but could never part with that much money for a handgun. Although you made a great decision, why did you get rid of the P7? Besides the fact you got a lot more in return.

I could never warm up to it, well except for it burning my fingers.

The trigger pull was nice, but it was just too different for me.

Besides that it's awfull heavy for an 8 shot 9mm. With's it's short barrel and weight centered in the grip area it flopped around a lot in the holster as well. (I had a Blade Tech kydex holster for it) A different holster would have helped that.

It was just one of those guns I had lusted after and once I finally got it did not live up to my expectations.

The best, (or worst) analogy I could make is that it was like picking up a beautiful girl you had been eyeing in the bar all night, then you get her home to bed and she just lays there, sure you'd enjoy it, but it just wouldn't be the earth shattering experience that you had worked up in your mind.

I had picked it up in a straight trade for a Colt 1911, I figured I could make more off of selling it than I could have the Colt, and I did.

I think the P7's are way over hyped, and way way over priced. Not saying they are a bad gun, it functioned perfectly in the few months I had it and was quite accurate.

Having only fired full-sized Glocks, I'm curious as to what type of recoil or controlability is experienced in Baby Glocks like the G-26?

Also, what type of self defense ammo do MOST Glockers use in a G-26?

Thank-you in advance of your objective replies.

Steve

P.S. Kind of doubt there'd be too many shooting the snappy Ranger T 127-grainers in +P+ (147-gr. definitely kick less).

Wallygator
08-05-2005, 13:09
Thanks for the explanation vafish. I understand, and I fear if I was to buy one I would feel the same way. You hear so much positive about the P7 that it is easy to get caught up in the hype. I appreciate your honesty.

Steve (147 Grain), I use 124 +p Speer Gold Dots in my G26. I have fired 147 through it and I didn't feel much a difference. Some are more sensitive to recoil than others but as far as I'm concerned, the G26 doesn't recoil much more than the full size guns. Very controllable recoil. But I feel the same way about my G29 with full power 165 gr Gold Dots.;f

IMO, the G26 is the best 9mm I have fired so far. I tried the Sigs, Kahrs, Beretta's etc. None of them felt as good as the G26. This is just my two cents.

So, Wally, I agree with you. The G26 rocks and rules!!!!!!~2

While I NEED to handle and shoot a G-26, what type of grip can one get with medium to large sized hands?

Can you get a magazine that extends out more than normal for use as a grip extension?

Steve

You can get a lot of extensions for the subcompact.

I have owned the G26 and G27 but I have sold them both because they are just to small for my hands. Even with grip extensions they just didnt feel right to me. So I have sold them and I plan on getting a compact(19/23/32)as my next purchase. Unless, of course, the infamous Glock carbine should appear. ;f

I had the same experience although I never bought it. My partner at worked swore by his P7 and by all rights the gun is a Mercedes Benz of 9mm's.

But once behind the wheel and driving it, I realized I enjoyed my old Mustang a lot better!

I never liked the mag release and hated the heat thing, and the G26 is such a sweety. Definitely the girl you'd take home to mom.

BTW, I've shot the SIG 210 & 226, the P7M8 & 13 and Walther P5 & 88. All are very nice guns worthy of a loyal owner and good shooter. I would put my G17 and my G26 up against those guns any day of the week!

Wallygator, I think you've got it right!;D

You know it Hugo! ;f I've tried many others also and I can't really explain it but the G26 is the best I've had. An it only seems to get better the more I shoot it. Comforting and very comfortable in my C-tac with a spare 15 rounder on the other side. Soon to have DT ammo in both mags.^c

Although now that colder weather is approaching (slowly but surely) my G29 is getting anxious for some hip time.

I find recoil different than in the 17, not really worse. The 26 has a double spring system which seems to help.

I've said this before, but I think many folks are not aware that the grips on the 17, 19, and 26 are not just shorter or longer, but are actually a different shape. The smaller the gun the higher up the little bump on the backstrap sits. The 26 fits my hand best and I suspect I'm not alone.1

Now that the cold weather is here (it really never does get here;Q ) the only change I've made is to go from hip to shoulder rig. This allows me to comfortably carry TWO spare G17 mags!
