Has anyone had shooting experience with the Springfield Armory XD-9?
I'm interested in buying one, but I already have a G26 and am wondering if the XD-9 would be any different from a shooting standpoint?;z
I've got a service model that I got in a trade a couple months ago. It shoots very well and the grip seems a little more comfortable to me than my Glocks. I also like the grip safety, great for in the waist band carry. I'd suggest going to a range that has XD's as range guns and rent one and shoot it, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
I have a XD sub compact and a range buddy with a G26. The XD fits my hand a lot better but this is very subjective. I just have to many fingers hanging off the end on the G26.
Accuracy is the same. I practice drawing from a IWB holster and have never had trouble with the grip saftey. Some have. The XD bore axis is higher but this has had no effect on me (only fired 9mm).
I find the XD trigger smoother - again very subjective. The reset point is very similar on the guns so I don't get confused during a session.
The XD stock sights were lame for me - replaced with night sights. I also find the XD finsih a little more work than my glocks to maintain.
Bottom line is that I love my Glocks and my XD. I think you have to shoot both to decide. The way the gun felt in my hand made all the difference.

I have the service bi-tone 9mm and the sc9mm. I REALLY like them. Matter of fact the sc is my ccw piece. Never had any issues with either, Some have reported rust/finish issues on the blue/black finishes, my sc is fine though.
For my sc9 I bought a sc40 mag and tweaked the lips, now I have a mag that has 13 rd 9mm cap. Not bad for a sc ccw piece.
I love my bitone XD-9 Service pistol. It has fed every type of ammo I have put through it without one misfeed or jam of any kind (even my early reloads). I like the trigger and grip. No complaints or concerns whatsoever. The magazines are really nice. I like the stock steel sights on the XD over the stock plastic sights on the Glock.
Glocks and XDs each have their fine points. I like and own 'em both. You can buy with confidence if you like it and it fits you.
If the XD was as easy to completely strip down as a Glock it'd be the best striker-fired semi-auto going.

I like my GLOCK and love my XD. The finish on the GLOCK holds up a lot better, but the finish on the XD is not as bad as it's made out to be. Proper maintenance works for me. The XD is my carry piece and I plan to purchase another as backup.
I got an xd 9 a month ago and love it. My only complaint is that I can't find enough time to get to the range!
All:
Thanks for all the great replies on the XD-9. I just purchased my first AR, so the XD-9 is next on my list. I've only heard good things about them. Thanks Again.

The XD is top heavy but it's a good gun.{a little ugly} I would choose a G26 over a XD anyday;z
I was thinking about the SD-9 sub-compact version, but I need to take my G26 to the range a few more times. I've only been out with the G26 one time about a year ago. I probably should just shoot what I have for now--- Especially after the feedback I got from my wife about buying the AR-15 a couple of weeks ago.
Thanks for the input.
I shot an XD9 and G34 back to back. The XD fit my hand much better, and as a result I shot it much much better. The full size glocks just dont work for me.
I now have a G19 that I shoot better than either.
IMHO, the XD9s are a viable alternative to Glock.

I have to say that an XD-9 or an XD-40 are about the best buy handgun you can get. I bought a XD-9 for under 400 bucks. I had one of the olive drab/black ones. It shot really well and never jammed up on me. I ended up getting rid of it because accessories for it are hard to come by. Few people make holsters and night sights for it.

SIG night sights will work, they can be found all over. Be advised that the XD's factory sights are a real pain to remove!!

I have a .40 service and a 9mm subcompact and love them both.. looks aside.
Detail stripping isn't the same, but it's really no harder to detail the XD than a Glock... I was skeptical at first but it's really not a big deal.
how much can I get a XD9 for?

If you look hard, you can snag them for $410 or slighty less.

i wouldnt pay more than 400 for a xd.
i really liked the xd, in fact i owned 2. the problem i had from day one with my 4" was extraction problems and poor finish. if SA could get around these problems the glock would have its first serious competitior. many people are attrated by the price of the XD. however when u figure ur gonna spend another 60 bucks to get it re-finished suddenly the glock looks like the better choice from the start.
