I purchased my first KAHR a CW9 last week and shot it for the first time over the weekend. There is a piece on the right side of the gun about 1/2 x 1 that snaps into the grip which provides access of some sort apparently. I do not know the proper term for this piece but when my wife tried shooting the gun the piece came off on each of the two seperate occasions she tried shooting it. When it comes off a small spring comes out and the gun is TOTALLY INOPERABLE requiring it to be cleared and the piece reinstalled. The piece simply snaps into place and has no screws or anything to hold it. It should not matter but she is right handed (I am left) and it never happened to me but each time she shot it did.
She now has no confidence in using the gun (understandably) and I am concerned as well. Even is this piece is not tight the fact it snaps into place is concerning. Does anyone know anything about this problem?
Call Kahr and tell them what happened. I suggest that you refrain from cursing or anything of the sort though.
It might be best to phrase it something like this; "I was shooting my new CW9 last week and I have a concern. When I was shooting something separated from the handgun causing it to not function. Is there something that can be done about this since it is my concealed carry piece.?"
I'm not saying that you would cuss at them, but some people do tend to get irate on the phone. Kahr is really good about standing behind their products and doing right by the customer. Good luck and keep us posted.

BikerRN, I would not cuss them and was not really that upset as I understand things happen but as you can imagine it is very very frustrating to get a new weapon like that and looking forward to it being your everyday concealment life protection piece and it comes apart. It was my first venture away from a Glock and well........
I do like the size and it shot quite well. The trigger pull was long and heavy I don't know if they or a gunsmith could adjust that for me or not?

Part #40 is called a “Side Panel”… are you missing part #41 which is the “Side Panel Pin” that holds in part #40? Sounds like ya are!

Call Kahr, it’s an easy fix that they can get you the parts for to do yourself. ^c

Michigun...........side panel makes sense. I was suprised there was no pin or small screw to hold it in place! There is a very small hole for a pin or something although I dont know how you would ever get it out though as there is no access on the other side of the gun frame and the hole is literally as small as a "pin".
Thank you for the info....I am awaiting "all representatives are busy or on the phone at the moment" and for them to call me back!

Well there should have been... part #41 holds the "Side Plate" (Part #40) on.

Part #41 has a head on it... this is how you pull it out to remove part #40.
I suspect that your #41 part was probably taken out of your Kahr before it reached you... it was probably needed to replace a lost one for someone else’s Kahr. Where'd you get it from? I'd ask them about it as I’d suspect they “borrowed” it! ;)
Max, I didn't say you would curse at them, but I just got off the phone with someone that was cursing at me, so that may have influenced what I typed in regards to your post.
Call Kahr, they stand behind their products.
