Those are the same grips that came on both of my K9's & what I see on all the rest. Looks like the grip screws have been upgraded though. ^c CIAHitman 07-25-2005, 13:22 Originally posted by Michigun [B]Those are the same grips that came on both of my K9's & what I see on all the rest. Interesting. My new MK9 came with thin plastic grips. I wonder if the rubber ones can be had for the MKs. Michigun 07-25-2005, 13:33 Originally posted by CIAHitman Interesting. Kahr doesn't offer/have any rubber grips for the MK’s either. A few options: * AGrip * Hogue "slip-on" * Decal Grips BackDraft 07-25-2005, 14:18 The grips are the ones I took off a K40. The original grips were some hard plastic stuff. This gun was born in 1997 and when I bought it it had only fired a few rounds and put away. Michigun, your right about the grip screws. I had a few laying around the bench and trimmed them to fit. I hate the slotted screws on it. The hex look alot better and don't screw any opps;P . Right now this has about 8,000 rounds down range and only replaced the recoil spring 2 times. And replace the front sight with a dovetail front sight. That dang plastic one broke off drawing it from leather a few weeks after I got it.$65.00 later and I have a dovetail sight. This one I have some plans on the table to modify it. Wood Grips and Elite trigger and a few other goodies and having it hard crome or let Robbie at RoBar work his majic on it. All depends on if funds are there.^c BackDraft 07-25-2005, 14:20 Originally posted by Michigun No rubber grips for the MK's, they’re a different beast... all of them are just like yours. They work nicely when I had my MK40:cool: Michigun 07-25-2005, 14:24 Originally posted by BackDraft Wood Grips from Kahr are now avil . Yup, forgot about those... guess I was thinking along the synthetic lines for CIAHitman. BackDraft 07-25-2005, 19:21 Originally posted by Michigun Yup, forgot about those... guess I was thinking along the synthetic lines for CIAHitman. Actully I prefer the wood grips better than rubber. The set I had on the E9 were the ones that were checkered and they worked out well but I rather have the smooth ones they fit my hand better.I also use Pearce Grip extenders nomally but since I have been carrying in an ankle rig I had to use the standard mags bottoms. I know it isn't pretty but its a hellva shooter. Its actully the first 9mm I have owned that really shot decent groups and no failures since I got the first 500 rounds out of her. Colonel Klink 07-25-2005, 19:27 The grips on BackDraft's Kahr look like the rubber Hogue uses in their grips. You guys may want to check with Hogue for grips. CIAHitman 07-25-2005, 20:00 Originally posted by BackDraft Actully I prefer the wood grips better than rubber. Did you find that your grip slipped any or had any problems with retention while shooting with wood grips and high temps outside? That's one reason I haven't thought about wood grips. I use a Hogue grip with my AR. Coffindodger! 07-25-2005, 22:37 The wood grips are still smooth in the back though, and I don't like wood grips anyways. I wish they would make some rubber ones for the MK9's and K9's. Or even plastic ridges like they have on the back of the PM series. The MK9's grips really suck when it's hot out and your hands are sweaty. I've considered A grips, but I don't like that idea either. Hopefully Crimson Trace will come out with some lasergrips fairly soon. According to the mod on Crimson Trace it's on the table, but probably not until next year. If you want lasergrips for you MK9 or K9 go over and tell Crimson Trace on their messageboard. Every vote counts! :) Michigun 07-26-2005, 07:26 Originally posted by Coffindodger! BackDraft 07-26-2005, 17:29 The grips are the ones Hogue supplies Kahr with that I am using right now. As far as smooth grips, no problems with hand sliding or gun moving around. When I worked in LE I had smooth wood grips on my Model 57 & 58 and it worked out really well with the recoil. I personal just never cotton to the checkering on my grips. WHen I had my MK40 I put the smooth wood grips on it and it was fine but the grip soze was just a little too small with my hands to shoot it well. I have shot a MK9 with the hard grips and wood smooth and checkered and I shoot it better with the smooth wood grips. Right now I'm happy with the K or E size Kahrs but the Mk series conceals so much easier so I'm not sure which one I want to get. I'll be happy as long as it is stainless. Hope I answered all the questions. Coffindodger! 07-27-2005, 16:00 Originally posted by Michigun Kahr does have rubber grips for the K9. Really? I browse the Kahr Shop all the time and never seem to find anything like that. Could you point them out to me? I'm actually looking for rubber MK9 grips, but this interests me as well. Michigun 07-28-2005, 05:27 Originally posted by Coffindodger! Really? I browse the Kahr Shop all the time and never seem to find anything like that. Could you point them out to me? Sure! (FYI, you won’t find factory rubber grips in the “Accessories” section.) Part #41 in this link here: K9 Parts (http://www.kahrshop.com/cgi-bin/itemlist.asp?mod=7&asm=1&imgid=2) (You can find this yourself under the "Parts” section (top left of page) at the www.KahrShop.com) http://www.kahrshop.com/images/B_k_frame_asmbly.gif . Coffindodger! 07-29-2005, 15:54 I emailed them about soft rubber grips for an MK9 the other day. Unfortunately I got back this reponse: "Good Morning! Thank you for your email. Unfortunately, the Rubber Grips are not available for the MK series. There is only the Hard Plastic or Wood Grips available for this model. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us. Thank You Kahr Customer Service" Durnit! Seems real strange that they don't make them for the MK9...and I don't like wood grips...especially since they are smooth in the back as well... and if I dropped it on the concrete the grips would probably break making the gun almost useless...Oh well, I guess I'll just have to resign myself to one of these things which I don't want to do: 1. Waiting for Crimson Trace to come out with lasergrips. 2. Try an Agrip. 3. Get a Hogue Handall jr. vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
