That's what I love about Maks. What other simple, reliable, well-made pistol with some history to boot, can you get for $160 virtually brand "new".

IMAS, are they both Bulgy Maks? Either way one can never have too many Maks. You did well. Regards, Richard ;f

How so?
right side of the frame just above the grip says "PW ARMS REDMOND WA 9X18M BULG"
I don't think my other one has this. Also the right side of the slide is blank. My old one has the CAI and other crap written on it.
I guess this one is from a different importer. Anyone know anything about this?
I was suprised at how smooth this trigger was out of the box. It was made in 1985 and my old one was made in 1979. The machining on the internals is much smoother than my other bulgarian.

IMAS,
The 2 primary importers of Bulgarian Makarovs are C.A.I (Century Arms Int'l) and PW Arms. You have 1 of each. In my opinion, PW Arms set the standard for discretion with their import stamps, where C.A.I.'s marks deface the firearm. Many C.A.I.'s also have the original serial #'s lined out and new ones etched underneath, when the original serial #'s had cyrillic letters in them. In PW Arms case, they simply add a 4 digit serial # under their import stamp on their cyrillic lettered Makarovs. Quality is the same from both importers. Buying sight unseen, you might get one with nicer machining than another may be, but they are all pretty uniformly manufactured.
That said, I much prefer the PW Arms variety. All of mine are from their import. Hope this sheds some light.
I especial like the red grips on the older one.the thumb ledge on the new mak is very comfortable.
Where did you get the Bulgy? How is the condition? I'm buying one in the next several days, I'd like to know.
