Thanks for the recall confirmation. I added your entry.
I'm new and have utilized the search feature but what are the reprocussions of not having it fixed? Just a broken frame rail? I told them to order a new one does that mean I have to send it back now? TIA.

A small percentage of those in the "recall" range may suffer a broken rear rail. Most owners report not even noticing it, i.e., no stoppage. I believe one owner reported the broken rail part cause some kind of trigger failure. None report a catastrophic failure with a broken rail. These are my rememberances of posts here.
If you asked them to order you a new frame, wait until they call you and then you send it in. They will go through the entire pistol and update/fix any parts and problems. Be sure to send along any mags that you think might require updating.
For the record, looked at my "born" on date for the test rounds. 12.7.2001

Why don't you have any info? This is a fairly new firearm. Check the paperwork. Look for the little brown envelope containing two fired cartridge casings. What's the date on the envelope?
We have one with a close alpha prefix that is also a homeland defender model:
KNF - G-19 - November 2006 - - LCI, "Homeland Defender"
G 23 purchased used , serial# FGFxxx 3rd gen with rail and LCI extractor. test fired date 02/12/03. Didnt see this one on the list unless I missed it. not sure if a recall frame or not.

I know there is already one on the list. The one pictured is ported, but doesn't have the "C" on the slide.
Also, the one you have listed is a 2nd Gen, the one I saw pictured is a 3rd Gen.

Yeah, I guess kind of how they did the cutaways, and P and R models.
Thinking about it...
I have shot a G18C before, back before I was big into GLOCKs..
I can't recall if it was a 1st or a 2nd Gen, but I know it wasn't a 3rd. I recall distinctly that it had the "C" on the slide.
The one in Lunde's pics is a compensated version, but lacks the "C"
I wonder if GLOCK dropped the un-ported versions, and all G18s are now ported.
Also, I noticed that there are no "G17T" (blue frame) GLOCKs on the list (at least not that I saw).
Another pic of lunde's that I saw, was a G17T (it is in GNG right now) the serial prefix is simply "T" with #s to follow. How ya gonna list that?

Dunno. Report it and I'll figure it out. LOL.
I noticed mine doesnt have a date on it, so I thought I would contribute and add one!
GGL - G-23 - June 2004 - 3rd Gen. - LCI, 2-10rd Mags
Date from the envelope with the two test-fire rounds dated 6/22/04, and was purchased in January 2005.
Great thing about my gun is the serial is SO easy to remember. GGL reminds me of Gaston Glock, and the 3 numbers are a very popular gun caliber.

Haha, thanks. Admittedly, I don't know what the LCI looks like, but when a round is chambered there are no red dots or levers that stick out, and the gun looks the same as it does when its empty. So I just assume I don't have the LCI.
EDIT: I DO have the LCI. I just never noticed it. Its not anything obvious, all it does it stick the extractor out of the slide by like 2mm.

There are a few "special" Alpha Prefix numbers in the first post on the first page. There is a "G0xxx" so I posted it after that as:

According to Butch, all sub-compacts are 3rd gen since they first came out during that period when only 3rd gens were being made, but many prefer to call them 2.5 gen (finger grooves, no rail).

Smooth vs checked grooves is a minor variation, not a full generation. Nope. No sub-compacts with rails. The G36 and G29 aren't true sub-compacts and do have rails these days.
Smooth vs checked grooves is a minor variation, not a full generation.
I will stand corrected on that. I heard that when they first came out so thats what I was calling them. I liked the smooth better.

The "1" on G19's indicate the new barrel geometry to lower the chamber in relationship to the magazine follower to better feed certain JHP ammo used by the NYPD...
Pentagon? Proof mark? Anyone else?

Just got my new, used, Glock model 17!
It is DVY-611 Model 17. The list mentions this as a 'two pin' gun however my model is a single pin over the trigger. It is also a dull finish, not like my old G35.
The frame says US after the number, but the slide and the barrel are just straight DVY611 so I'm assuming this gun's frame was made in the US, and the slide and barrel were not?

1) Two pins: trigger pin and rear frame pin (holds firing mechanism in frame -- true Glockaholics will correct my terminology... :) )
Three pin guns have the extra locking block pin above the trigger pin.
2) "US" was a Glock fad dropped after a fashion. And no, the frame wasn't made in the USA. That didn't start happening until very recently. The "US" was just stamped on the serial number plate.

1) Check your paperwork for the little brown envelope containing two collected cartridge casings. What's the date on the envelope?
2) Call Glock in Smyrna. Heck, just drive over to their office and ask them. :tongueout:
3) From our GSN thread data:
FDD - G-17 - December 2002 - 3rd Gen.
FDF - G-19 - December 2002 - 3rd Gen.
FDG - G-19 - Unknown - 3rd Gen. - has LCI, also has "1" after "Glock" visable through chamber.
FDH - G-20C - January 2003 - 3rd Gen.
FDK - G-21 - March 2003
FDP - G-22 - Unknown - 3rd Gen.
FDW - G-29 - March 2003 - 2.5 Gen. - “Glock Austria 29 10mm Auto.”
FDX - G-26 - December 2002 - 3rd Gen.
FDZ - G-27 - 2002 - 2.5 Gen.
FEA - G-27 - December 2002 - 2.5 Gen.
FEB - G-32 - December 2002 - 3rd Gen.
There's a lot of jitter, especially with the "C" model. The "average" date is December 2002. That's my guess.

Just FYI it is still in LE.
It was sold when the S.O. went to the 3rd Gens. Sold to a LEO that works for my agency, and then sold to another LEO at my agency. I detail stripped it for him, swapped him in a 5.5lb connector, and cleaned it. It was horrible, I don't think it had ever been cleaned, firing pin would barely move at all with the trigger pulled. Either way, it is still in a holster, protectin' and servin'

Ya, keep trying to convince yourself the G29 and G30 are true-subcompacts.... Glock can call them that if they want, but they aren't. More like compact sized.
Why else is there room for rails.
ETA: the only true Glock subcompacts are G26, 27, 33, and 28 and 39.

Take a G27 on lay it on top of a G30, you'll be surprised; I've got both of them. YES the G30 IS a subcompact, I think GLOCK knows more about Guns than both you & I.
If it looks like a subcompact, lays like a subcompact, shoots like a subcompact........it must be a subcompact.

I never knew the definition of a subcompact is all slides must be swappable amongst any model and all models. You are truely making this up as you go along....good luck with that,PERIOD.

Clearly you missed the point that all true subcompact frames are the same, cast from the same mold. The G30 and G29 are "different". But you can go on in ignorance... Don't worry, be happy.
Glock does indeed consider the G29/G30 guns to be subcompacts, but considering that there is no 'compact' sized .45 acp Glock and that the G29/30 are about the same size as the G19/23 guns, I'd have to agree that the matter could be considered to be 'open to interpretation' and a matter of opinion.
If you really want a small .45, I'd point you towards a G39!

Curious that Glock would release this old of a serial number so recently. Could this be a refurb? Or else Glock as some old stock sitting around waiting to be issued. Nice find. Thanks.

It isn't a refurb as far as I know. My uncle is an FFL and just got it ~2 weeks ago. It is my first GLOCK so I could be wrong. The sticker on the case has a barcode with the serial under it and GLOCK, model, and sight type above it. Then to the right is 5LB, a '2', and 10 RD. I assume referring to the trigger, number of mags and the capacity. Farther to the right is another sticker over part of the first that has GLGXXXXX at the top, a '12' in the center and GLLXXX at the bottom. I hope I've done a good job with my description. Is this second sticker normal for a NEW firearm? Is the GLGXXXXX another serial of some sort? I appreciate the help. One last thing, the slide and barrel both have the GLL serial on them and the barrel has the pentagon proof just to the right as well. Everything that was in the package was sealed; I opened both the manual and casing envelopes. Any comments are appreciated.
I bought a new one today.

What is the date on the little brown envelope containing the two fired cartridge casings?
His must have been laying around, unissued, at Glock, because his fired casing envelope is brand spanking new!

I guess they only include those stolen in Florida? I wonder if the states share this info at all. If there were such a big database, I could envision problems getting a recovered gun unlisted.
That is because that is a local system.
NCIC is where all stolen firearms are entered.
Hard to get a look in it though, without being LEO, and even we have to have a reason.

Is this a non-USA Glock? What country? Was it new in box? This is an older alpha prefix.

Precisely a Gen 3, but "conventionally" 2.5 Gen.

Is there a serial number on the barrel?
Does it match the slide and frame?
If not matching, is it of the form "Lnnnn"?

there is a serial number on the barrel (where it is forming the block that locks with the ejection port), matching the numbers on slide & frame.
I was a little bit surprised because I thought all 2nd gen. Glocks feature polygonal barrels. My arms dealer told me that maybe this one is out of an production run especially for an Army or Police Force which sometimes choose a cheaper rifled barrel for costs per unit reduction.
kind regards

After using my new 21SF as posted just above, I pulled out my old 21 bought in 5/01. It has a # I don't see listed in this thread or on Topglock.
EDD***US 3rd gen FS w/8lb connecter
It has the angled extractor face but extractor itself is not the loaded chamber indicator version.
Did I miss something or is this some kind of odd-ball? Also, how would I be able to find out if the new style extractor can be used in this gun?
P.S. Ignore this post if I being too much of a pain in the ass.
1) Do you have a date for your EDD? We don't list one in our DB. A 2001 is consistent with the range in the DB that have dates:
EDB - G-19 - March 2002 - 3rd Gen. - Purchased in Buenos Aires
EDF - G-26 - Unknown - 3rd Gen.
EDH - G-17 - Unknown - 3rd Gen. - 3 pin frame / No Frame Recall
EDK - G-17 - May 2001 - 3rd Gen.
EDM - G-20 - Unknown - 3rd Gen. - No Frame Recall
EDN - G-21 - Unknown - 3rd Gen.
EDP - G-21 - Unknown - 3rd Gen. - No Frame Recall
EDT - G-22 - April 2001 - 3rd Gen.
2) Post your question regarding converting to LCI over in the General Glocking forum. More Glock experts over there. I'm a glorified book keeper and this thread doesn't get much viewing traffic. Butch, the real expert, does check in from time to time, but better to get his attention over in GG.

From the range it seems to not be in the "recall" list, but only Glock can tell you for sure. Call them and find out.
Since you have the 21SF, the 21 might be redundant. :)

EXV - G-27. I bought mine in 2002 (Maybe October?)
Glockmeister or Topglock has no record of this serial number.
Glock 23 3rd generation - I bought it brand new in August 2006.
Date of manufacture: 6-1-06
serial = KDW###
It has KDW### stamped on the frame and the barrel as well.
It also has the pentagon symbol stamped on the barrel.
It says "made in austria" on the frame and has "austria" on the slide.

Yes, the closest thing we have for a "BOD". You can also call Glock to get a BOD.

None of the online daters have newer prefix/dates (> "DXZ").
Yours was made around August 2002 looking at the "neighboring" prefixes.
