View Full Version : 37 upper on 17 frame

I should be able to run a G37 upper on a G17 frame if I:
1) Replace the G17 locking block with a .40/357 locking block
2) Replace the trigger housing/ejector with a .45 GAP ejector
3) Use a G37 magazine.
Is that right? And the same holds true for 38 on 19 and 39 on 26?
Wrong!
You need a G17 3pin frame that will accept a G37 locking block. Same with the G19 and G26.
You are correct about the ejector and magazines.

Got it! A 9/40 slide would work on the G37 locking block though right? It's just a little longer, right?

Since its been a while....can anyone confirm that a three-pin 17/19/26 frame will accept a G37/38/39 locking block?
The G37 locking block is too long to fit a Gen2 G17 frame. I don't have Gen3 Frame handy to check.

Hrm...I thought Gen 2 three-pin frames were essentially the same as Gen 3 frames without rails/fingers?
I'm really trying to answer this question before I spend money on the parts I need to swap uppers.
Have you changed the subject? You were talking about G17's. Gen2 G17's are 2-pin pistols. Early Gen3 G17's are 2-pin pistols. later gen3 G17's are 3-pin pistols. I do not have a later gen3 G17 fram to compare.

Sorry...I must have gotten it wrong. I was under the impression that later Gen2 frames were three pin pistols, and all Gen3 frames are three pin.
Basically, I'm trying to work a project where I've got a 17 and 37 upper on the same frame, and a 19 and 38 upper on the same frame.
I've got most of the parts already by chance, but I want to confirm that it'll work before I buy a frame (which I don't have)
FWIW-
- .45GAP G37 uses a G21 .45ACP Ejector
- Locking block in a 3rd Gen G17 is exactly the same as a locking block in the G37
Earlier G17's have a different locking block, but I think the difference is more how it fits into the frame not how it works with the barrel. I beleive the top part where the barrel locks in is the same.

Only If it is the 3 pin Gen. 3 per the armors manual.

Are you sure about the G17 and G37 locking block compatibility on 3rd gen guns?
If there's a difference in how it fits in the frame, does that mean that I can't actually *swap* a G37 locking block into a G17, but that the G17 block will work just fine?

I pulled out my 3rd Gen G34 locking block and G37 locking block and put them side by side, NO difference at all. So in the case of 3 pin 3rd generation frames, yes they are completely interchangeable.
I just put my G37 slide on my 3 pin 2nd Generation frame and it functioned just fine dry firing. The base of the locking block (that goes into the frame) on my 2nd generation frame is clearly different, however the top part where the barrel connect with the locking block is the same.

Thanks, I will see about performing this experiment with a G19/38 as well.
Sounds like everything will be just ducky if I keep it 3rd Gen.
