Backstrap to plug or not to plug?

Any thoughts on the following...

1. I've tried several plastic plugs. They seem like a good concept but, they limit the tactical performance of the pistol (jammed mag. removal). Any field experience with this?

2. I'm currently waiting on a brass plug. It looks like it would have a similar flaw but, I want to see what it does with recoil. My 38 just seems to want a little more weight down there.

3. I have formed a wax model of what I think an appropriat non-interfering plug should be shaped like.(a plug with a concave base).
If I like the brass one I may make a lead casting of the wax model or machine the brass unit for trial.
