Thanks for the help guys. I think I'm gonna go with PB Dionisio since it's the one nearest to my house, are the people there friendly? My cousin, who is an avid shooter, was telling me about how some range owners and marshalls can be a**holes (no offense meant). That's why first thing he talked to me about was proper range decorum and behavior.

Also about the ranges that are inside the malls, would there be any problem with me carrying the gun into the mall? I mean in order to go to the range I would have to pass through the mall right? I do have a PTC though. Once again thanks for helping out a newbie. :)

AFAIK, if you have a PTC, there is a provision there that bars you from carrying your piece in places like shopping malls.

at PB dionisio, just mention the name of eyecutter and taurus, manginginig na sa takot ang mga tao dun and they will throw flowers along your path.

if the mall you are talking about is MCS, there shouldn't be a problem if you have ptt.

PBD address is 90 West Riverside St. SFDM, QC Tel. 373-4545

tama yan, practice ka. no sense carrying caoncealed if you don't know how to shoot proficiently.

wag ka maniwala kay ppts. but we do frequent pbd after office hours. tambayan namin yun. paturo ka kay edgar yung RO.

hehehe... strictly for members only yun eh! ;f

sa jethro festival mall, the SG would just ask you to login your name and piece sa logbook nila at the mall entrance.

mga sir,

question lang po about PTTs on indoor shooting range inside malls... dba naka list sa PTT yung mga shooting range na pwede mo lang puntahan?(IIRC) what if wala sa list ng PTT ko yung mga nasabing indoor range sa mga malls? wla ba problem yun sa entrance ng mall or duon mismo sa range?

tnx in advance!

just shoot and pracice well on the range you prefer. of course its better to be a member there.

honestly speaking. my first membership was at armscor when i bought a 45 from them. Never shot at their range except sa northstar.

after that i just shot at fort bonifacio since my friends shoot there.

If i were to do everything again i would have joined lag psg a long time ago "even if i had to pay:;f

development in shooting ability should have been quicker.

good luck on your decision.

Welcome to the forum!;c YOur cousin is right, every newbies should learn proper decorum and behaviour. I would like to add safety too. I believe the range owners and marshalls are only a**holes to people who disregards safety in the range.

If the range is not on your PTT then you're not allowed to transport your gun to/from your house and range. Kapag natiempuhan ka, violation 'yan.

Sorry, might be a little OT:
What about when you have to bring your piece to a gunsmith, what do you guys usually do? I suppose you need to get a PTT?

when you have a ptc, what are the provisions? such as where can you carry it? should it be concealed? can it be loaded? etc? newbie here

mc_oliver
08-24-2005, 10:21
Details of the provisions are at the back of the card and the gun must be "relatively" concealed. Malls, pubs, public gatherings, dapat bawal. As for the gun's condition, it's up to you. Just try not to leave the mag in your car.;f ;)

I've been to jethro in Frisco quite a few times. On the few occasions that I've been there I certainly made a lot of negative impressions about the establishment.

1. It's the range where many gangbanger wannabes go and rent guns to shoot. I twice chanced upon a group who are noisy and rowdy and the "range officer" is not doing anything about it.
2. The price of ammunition and range fee are pocket and wallet killers. My dad and I met my uncle and his friend at that range because it is the only range my uncle knows how to get to. We bought 200 rounds of reloaded 9mm range ammo (the shells of w/c belong to jethro) and paid the range fee. There are 4 of us (P250 each). We ended up paying P2500 just for that.
3. They are selling lots of fake stuffs at very exorbitant prices. They are still selling fake SVI frames and parts and fake Wichester Black Talons.

I just dont know if anybody has the same impressions about the place. I certainly would not recommend that place to anybody

I can't help but agree with all your points Darwin25. Oh there's also a range offficer who tries to brag about his "skills" rather than doing his job. After that, he'll do his pitch about teaching you the art and science of shooting. Bring in a cheap pistol, and he'll loiter around the range. Try to bring in an expensive pistol and suddenly, he is your pulot boy.

It's really funny how many years of discipline and hard work helped build Jethro's name only later on, he'll destroy it or let others do it for him.

yup.imho, only newbies and those who are or have been(for quite a while) out of touch sa practical shooting ang bibili sa kanila. although active shooters/reloaders buy consumables from them. sana naman, the don't fake those products as well;Q

I bought 1000 rds 9mm heads from them before. The diameter was only .354 kaya pala balagbag yung bala ko pag tama sa paper target. I have already loaded 100 rds and I brought the 900 rds back to them. Alam pala nila na out of specs yung ibang production nila kaya pinalitan nila ng 1000 rds yung binalik ko.

Hindi siguro alam ng may-ari ang nangyayari.

in competitive shooting both lito and i charge 10,000 for 4 sessions. i dont recommend us till you learn to shoot since sayang pera mo since we will be teaching you the basics instead of more advanced techniques.

the basics are easy to learn so learn it first. then if you still want to learn real fast then contact us.

It took me a lot of years to get to my level(though i did not compete till about 23 months ago) but if i just paid the 10t, your development will be counted in months and not years. I did not want to spend since my reasoning is that ill use the money for bullets.

If i had to do it again ill take the instructor.

Sorry to stray off topic, but I'm really interested in this. How long is one session? And also at what point would you feel that you will be ready for the more advanced lessons, is there some sort of test that you let clients take?

jasonub
09-01-2005, 20:37
no test really.

if you can hit a's on full targets out to 25 meters then your ready.

here is a simple drill 15 meters draw and fire 6 shots on 3 full classic targets. all in about 3-4 seconds without a d then your ready.

btw we do it in less than 3;)

Personally, i prefer not to teach anyone who has not mastered safety and the basics since it will waste a lot of time for the student.

1 session is about 3-4 hours. bring around 300-400 rounds, 6 classic targets.

we will see on what techniques that the student lacks. draw. shooting on the move, entering and leaving positions, target selection and sequencing, stage breakdown, strong and support hand shooting. etc etc. whatever is the weakness drills are given for the weakness so it will be a strong point
PM me if you want more details

I can tolerate their excessive pricing or them selling fake parts. But what I cant tolerate is having to share my practice space and range time with gangbanger wannabes. People whom I may have to shoot someday or worse, people who may take "special" interest on me and/or my family and use their "shooting skills" against us.

Alexii
09-03-2005, 19:51
The first and last time I went to Jethro was a couple of years ago. First negative thing that struck me was the unsafe condition of the range. There are people actually living(?!) on top of the range's walls. The range and shop are full of clutter; IIRC they were even selling roast chicken rotisserie equipment. The environment outside the range is one of those listed as places to avoid.

Couple all these with the facts that they employ vacuous ROs, a hangout of gangbanger wannabees, and selling fake stuff and passing them off price-wise as the real deal, then you have a range that'll put responsible gun-owners in a dubious light.

The first group that I chanced upon, yung mga nagpapanggap na hip-hop. Yun mga street hooligans na mukhang mga adik adik sa kanto. Mahaharot. The second group is more like of the "kargador" types speaking in their incomprehensible dialect. I'm not judging them by the way they look but still you can tell by instinct that they're up to no good.

That's the same price as with the indoor range I also go to, but I don't remember if it's the member or the non-member rate.

In Armscor Marikina, it's now about 17 pesos (for members).
