9mm confustion

What is the difference between the 9mm luger, 9mm Para, and the 9mm kurz?

9mm Luger = 9mm Para (Parabellum) = 9mm NATO. ALl of them are 9x19.

9mm Kurz is 9x17. Literally translated from German, it means 9mm "Short".

I have also seen factory .380 ammunition (9x17) labeled 9mm kurz before.

In the U.S., "9mm Luger" is often the preferred nomenclature. In Europe its: "9mm Parabellum" and most often referred by its metric designation "9x19mm". You may also see it abreviated as 9mmP. We shouldn't get the term "NATO" confused with the cartridge itself. The term "NATO" just designates that the 9x19mm cartridge is loaded to "NATO" standards; just like the term "+P" and "+P+" are designations for increased pressure loadings of the 9x19mm cartridge itself. A 9x19mm cartridge with the NATO symbol (circle with a cross in it), a +P or a +P+ on the cartridge headstamp are all manufactured to the same overall dimensions: a 9mm (or .355 in.) bullet and a case length of 19mm (or .754 in.). For those who are not familiar with all the ins and outs of handguns & cartridges, if one were to say: "I have a 9mm NATO pistol" to a novice, that person might think that you have a pistol chambered for a new cartridge, since there are many different 9mm cartridges: 9mm Mauser, Largo, Steyr, Bergman-Bayard, Browning Long, Winchester Magnum, Ultra, Glisenti, Lapua FAR etc. That list doesn't even cover 9mm revolver cartridges.

The 9mm kurz is the European designation for what we like to call the .380 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) or just .380 Auto. Metric designation is 9x17mm. You may also see it called 9mm Corto, Short, Browning Short and .380 CAPH (Colt Automatic Pistol for Handguns). Kurz and Corto just means "short" in German/Spanish respectfully.

FYI, the 9x18mm is the common metric designation for the 9mm Makarov cartridge, which has a nominal bullet diameter of .363" compared to the 9mm Luger & .380 ACP's .355" bullet.

I see Nato 9mm offered for sale in bulk. I take it these rounds are ok to use in our G19. Are they any for accurate that say the 115 wbb?
Will they harm the G19 in any way? I don't hear many people using them. Would you comment on them and the G19 for range ammo.

btw: Kurz is a german word for short also known in spanish as corto or french court which now adays use to describe a short street. ;)

They are just fine for any Glock. I believe they are loaded hotter than WWB. The Glock 19 can handle any 9mm round out there.
