I just ordered a M-9 today from CDNN, great prices. I hope this pistol will shoot reliably. Are there any good instructions on how to disassemble the slide so I can give it a real good cleaning, before I take it out for a spin?

Also, are there any particular brands of hollow points that causes feeding problems for the M-9, so I can steer clear from them. I usually carry in my glocks either 124gr +P Golden Sabers or 124gr Federal HST. Hopefully I can use these rounds as well.

Thanks guys!!

www.steyrclub.com

there is a articles/tutorials section.
then there is also a maintenance section under the forums w/ more walkthroughs.

As w/ steyrs rifles and assault rifles the design is very modular and easy to break down.

also look under ammo and reloading for the "good, bad, and ugly" list of steyr owners experiences w/ different ammo.

My s9 will eat everything but coated steel rounds. ie silverbear, kept getting stuck in the chamber. Aluminum cci junk shoots in it all day.

my M used to eat blazer brass all day.

i lost my extractor spring to the junk corner and when i replaced the extractor (sold as whole subassembly not just spring) it started fte'ing on about 1 in 30-40 rounds.

the point of my story is that even though they are all the same model and specs some may like or dislike certain ammos (and even the same guns w/ a new extractor). Remington UMC seems to be a popular cheap one that some can and some can't use for example. Find what works for you (wwb is most universaly accepted).

a range report ot two is expected once you take your piece for a spin, and weloome to the cult.

You're smart to really clean it b4 the first shot, because its a pretty sure bet that your gun was sitting in a warehouse for a few years b4 CDNN bought them for closeout. The manufacture dates seem to be between 2000 & late 2002. You can see when your gun was built by looking for a little circle with a date stamp on the frame beneath the slide.

They're a great deal and a great weapon.

I like the 147gr Gold Dots in my M9.The sights take a little getting used to,but be patient...it'll keep them tight at 25yrds.;f

My M9 is in, and I'm going to pick it up tonight. As soon as I give the pistol a good cleaning, I'll let you know how it shoots. I hope I don't have FTE or FTF problems with this pistol. Those types of malfunctions I can't tolerate, and I will be bugging you guys for help in getting them resolved (hope you won't mind to much).

Have a good one.

Mine came in today and I put over 500 rounds through it. Flawless functioning, great ergonomics, terrific build quality, and the fastest reset in synthetic framed pistols. I can't believe that I took this long to get one.... NO buyer's remorse here!

If you are unsure, call today and get a brand new one before they are all gone.

My M40 will be back from Tripp this week with a nice new chromed slide.

I ordered a M9 yesterday, Tuesday, from Brian and took the advise from so many on this forum. I am looking forward to range time and posting my review. Thanks to all for the links and support for the Styer. I too got the 2-10rnd & 2-14rnd mag deal from CDNN and according to them, they have about 50 remaining. Act fast if you want one.

Last night I placed an order for the NEW M40A1.

They are on sale from one of the distributors.
Also received a flyer in the mail from the same distributor

"STEYR Summer Savings

They have almost the entire line of rifle's including the 50BMG.

Once I get a few hundred rounds through the A1 I'll have it chromed also.
