View Full Version : Steyr M series status
Forgive me, but I have not heard a word about this pistol for months. Last I heard they were updating it and re-releasing it, but I never saw even one review of the new model. I have no idea what became of the pistol that the gunzines just could not say enough about. So, what's the deal?
THe new M series features the built in rail on the front, and they re-designed the grip to fit better in the hand. The sights are the same. The removed the safty mech out of the trigger guard completely. It is easier to dissassemble than befor, making it all around more user friendly. It is available now. Have your dealer call Interstate Arms, they are a distibuter for STEYR and have then in stock. 1-800-243-3006 ext :119

New Steyr MA1:

Only differences are the new polymer (with integral rail) and lack of manual safety. Mechanically, they are identical; the slides are even intechangeable from new to old and vice-versa. Magazines are also interchangeable.
I held a new MA1 at a gun show a few months ago, and I'm impressed with how comfortable it is. Very similar feel to the older M, even with the different polymer.
There are also rumors of an upcoming SA1, too.
also have your dealer check rsr wholesalers and davidson's.
www.galleryofguns.com is davidson's to the public website. they're under new items not the steyr category;5
All 3 calibers are available.
Hope to order a new M40A1 next week.
. . . for the prompt responses. The question was more academic than anything else. As I am currently bordering Austria and about 4-5 hours away by car I am not allowed to own a Steyr M-series, Glock, SIG or anything else. The oh so enlightened German gun laws pretty much take car of that. The question was more academic than anything else. In about 18 months or so I will have a good 12-14 grand after misc. expenses and investments and enough leave (I hope) that I can make it back to the US and actually spend some of it. I see a Ducati calling my name, a SIG P210 and. . . who knows?

How's the quality of Steyer compared to H&K?
Steve
P.S. CDNN is running a special on H&K 9mm USP compacts with polymer frame for only $259. Which is best?
quality and reliability wise both are pretty equal.
shotablity and ergos steyr hands down.
a USP V1 has the DA/SA feature vs the DAO non second strike capable steyr if that is an issue to you.

Where did you see this deal on the USP? I just looked at the new CDNN catalog and didn't see any USPs for less than $500.

Man! I about crapped my pants. In my mind I already had one in my hand and was headed to the range. What a tease.

I did the same thing when I first read it. Is anyone familiar with this CZ? For the price, it is tempting.
