View Full Version : Doubletap Ammo A+
Just wanted to say if you haven't tried Doubletap Ammo yet, go order some... I bought a box of 155gr and 200gr and was extremely impressed! Made my 180gr Hydrashoks feel like I was shooting 115s in a G17! Looking at the foot-pounds of energy, the DT 155s have about 200 more over the 180 HSs! (Was shooting them out of a G22.)
The 200s felt a lot like the 180 Hydrashoks... but those 155s, my gun has never sounded so goooooood. More powerful, but still easy to come back on target for followup shots.
Good Job Mike, now I have to order more... last time it took less than 3 days to my door, I might be able to get them on the weekend :)

I keep my Glock 23 happy with Double Tap's 155 gr. Gold Dot's. As a matter of fact, it likes all Double Tap ammo, but especially 155, 180, and 200's.

I'm new to the .40. Right now my only "fowtie" is a G22. Why do you like the 155s over the 165s?
I've been meaning to order a half case from Double Tap, so I thougt I would ask.

I really like 165's personally. The only reason I haven't ordered any from double tap is because I have a good bit of 165 gr. Golden Sabre's laying around. I'm sure the double tap 165 is great too.
...energy is the reason for my choice in 155s over 165s. Then again, if that is the ultimate deciding factor, the 135 are king in the 40. Personal preference I suppose, to each their own.
I believe the numbers below are the fps for DT in a 4.5" barrel. I am sure someone will let me know if I am wrong on any of them. Even if I am a bit off, it provides a relative comparison between the rounds. Especially when compared to Hydrashoks 990 fps for 180gr, 391.7 ft-lbs. I believe that is for a 4" barrel so it may be slightly higher in a G22. Moral of the story, DTs have it over the HS in any grain bullet. That and the Gold Dots and XTPs are prettier ;)

+1
Mr MCNETT thank you. That is some impressive ammo. I got the 155 in 40 and 185 in 45.
The 40 out of my Kahr MK40 rocked. Like a little howitzer. I 'm in love with her all over again.
The 45 DT vs Blazer 45 I had today was night/day. KAPLOW!!! for those of you who remember the old Batman TV show. I know they are different, but its all I had on me.
I want to explore the variety pack options next!!!!

I shot six boxes of 155 through my 23 and 27 in the past couple of weeks. It kicks hard, but that comes with the territory. I had one FTF in my 27, which almost never happens. But, it was accurate enough for combat, no tumbling, and it gots everyone's attention at the range!
