FTE with Remington UMC

I just put 250 rounds of Remington UMC 115 grain through my new M9. I had two failures to eject, both of them somewhere between the 200 and 250 round count. I'm pretty sure that one of the FTEs was due to limp-wristing, but it is unlikely that the second one was, since I was being more conscious about it.

I don't think that this was an extractor issue, as I cleaned it before the FTEs occurred (though I did not over-lubricate it). I also shot some Remington UMC through my S40, and it suffered its first ever FTE (this gun is somewhere between the 500 and 600 round count). Previously, I had only shot Winchester WB through the S40.

Do I need to be worried? Does the spring just need some break-in on the M9? Or do you think this could be an ammo issue? The S40 is my carry weapon, and a FTE sure can hurt your confidence.

my s40 didnt rid itself of Burps until just after 1000 rounds or so. also if you have multiple magazines. mark each one to make them distinctive. just so you can rule out a bad magazine.. I had one bad mag out of 6.. its now out of rotation.. it would always fire,fte,rerack,fire,fte. etc etc... im assuming the mag is out of spec in some manner. did the fte you encountered occur during rapid fire or delayed shots?

your still in your breakin period.

don't seweat it and at this point, maybe if there were more or gun was broken in but not 3 in ~850 rounds through two different (still stiff) guns.

I also have a Steyr M9, I have not shot any Remington UMC thru it but I have shot them thru my Kimber Ultra Carry II with very bad results. FTE every 4 rounds! Now this little Kimber handles 400+ rounds of Winchester, PMC, Wolf, Blazer with 0 FTE but with the Remington constant problems. Strange problem but true, now I have fired 400+ of the UMCs in my full size Springfeild .45 with 0 FTEs...I guess it all depends on the gun. My suggestion is if it continues after "break in" shoot a different round that does work in your gun.

yeah, different guns (even same make and model) will like different brands. Rem UMC is one of the most questionable, steyr owners seem to be about 50/50 w/ it.

I tried one box of UMCs in the first handgun I ever owned, a Taurus PT908. The gun shot everything else fine, but with the UMCs had countless FTEs and FTFs. I crossed them off my list after that experience.

umc is the only thing my steyr ever puked on. it's fed everything else fine.

I ran a 250 bulk pack of umc thruu my s9 no problems.
