What's the "ideal" channel for a wireless network. Thanks.

I set mine to 6, but you may be happier with a different one. All depends on how much interference you may get in your area.

6 is usually the default and that will work just fine in most cases. If you're noticing performance issues from nearby wireless networks and devices, then play around with the channels. A neighbors wifi network on the same channel, 2.4Ghz cordless phones, microwave ovens, and active nearby bluetooth devices could all be potential sources of interference.

edit: I recommend the excellent freeware program NetStumbler (http://stumbler.net/) to discover and find out all sorts of neat info about nearby wifi networks including SSID, channel, detailed signal strength, and lots of other neat stuff.
