lube question

Just for an experiment, I used STP oil treatment as a lube on my slide and it made the slide feel slicker and smoother when racked. There has been no problem on the range with this lubricant. My concern is: 1) will the thicker viscosity cause a timing problem? and 2) will STP pick up more dirt than other lubes.

1 I don't thank so. A friend of mine uses STP and he doesn't Have any problems. 2 yes, The best thang I have found is Gun Butter or Graphite if you are worried about picking up dirt. I have been told they use Graphite over in the sand box.
